My 1st blocks came out 10 x 10 " so I am wondering how doing this "stretchy " block will be.
I suppose my guage will be the same no matter what the technique i am doing?
I still have 3 more blocks in Clue 1 to finish.

Just be sure all your squares are the same size. You will probably need to knit for 10 inches on this clue. It will probably stretch out to 10 inches from side to side. You might need extra yarn, though, because Bernat based yardage on 9.5 inch squares.

I am getting a big fat rib on the right side and narrower on the wrong side. Lots of squishy yarn in between the columns compared to a regular rib. This is correct for the shaker rib? :idonno: All these fat squishy squares will make for a warm afghan! :cloud9:

I love how flat these squares Lay. Thanks Bernat designers for not making us deal with rolling up edges to boot!

Can you post a photo? It will be easier to help with visuals :)

The directions state that the knit row (row 1) is the right side, however mine is turning out where it looks much nicer on the row 2 side. I guess I can pick whichever side I want to be the "right" side when piecing the afghan together, but just wondering if anyone else gets this too?

I... did two squares thinking the wrong side was the right side. It wasn't until I went and found one of our tester blankets and looked up photos of the stitch that I went "wait a minute...!" I think it's because we're so used to that stockinette-style part of a classic rib poking out.

Stay tuned for next week, where I did the exact same thing again.

With regard to the photo of the squares from Clue 1, you have hidden the 12" tails, correct?

After knitting a few inches, I had the same exact thought!

Yes, those have hidden tails so the photos looked prettier :)

Had a few minutes so I checked out this week's patterns. I am more excited about the knit one than the crochet one. The knit pattern is a new stitch I have never done and it looks pretty easy to do after watching the you-tube tutorial. I am only half done with week one clues, but I can't wait to get home ad do the week 2 clue, then go back and fill in the week one clues as I finish each week.

Happy knitting :knit:

Well, I have 6 of the Clue 1 squares done, and will make the other two as I have time after finishing other clues as they come up. I have heard of this stitch before, but never used it. I have a couple of inches done, and like both sides. I do not know which side I will used when I put the afghan together. I may even decide to use both sides in different squares.
