I experimented a little (reminded me how much I dislike long tail cast on!!) and achieved something similar to the picture by doing my last knit one below to the left of where it is supposed to go (into the slipknot?).
The rest of your piece looks beautiful! I love that colour:)
I just spent 15 ripping back and fixing mine...this is not an easy pattern to fix booboos on!

Did you do the knit 1 below/purl one your first row? If so, that may be your problem, you are supposed to knit across your first row. Also, your last K1below goes into the second stitch from the end, then you knit the last stitch.

I too have the mystery hole. I did a basic cast on then knitted the first row. Last stitch in the row is a knit. Glad to see I'm not the only one. I'm a real newbie and still haven't been able to continue my block after having frogged a bit.

I just wanted to share a funny thought I had about the knit/right side of the Clue 2 square. I think the stitches look like knit stitches with perms! Maybe it is time to put the needles down and go to bed, hey

Make that one of those '80's frizzy perms! I also think they look a little like fluffed up popped popcorn!

Ugh!! I was doing so well on my 1st block but then made a mistake. Undoing has been impossible! I tried undoing stitch by stitch but couldn't undo the K1below correctly. I then tried to pick up a row of knits below the mistake and but when I redo it's not coming out right. I'm afraid I'm going to have to start all over again. This block was almost done! Hopefully it will look better in the morning.

This brings up a good question: Is it possible to "tink" the K1below stitch? If it is possible, how do you do it?

I haven't had to undo any stitches yet, but you never know when you might need to. Any would be appreciated on this. Thanks!

I agree about providing a helpful vidéo. I had to tink one stitch yesterday and it took me awhile to figure it out!

The tutorial shows how to knit one below in stockinette. Is there a tutorial on how to knit one below in the garter stitch?

I'm reading the thread on the difficulty with K1below on the second row of pattern and think that the problem is exactly that - the illustrations/video show from stockinette/stocking/jersey point of view rather than from beginning with a purl/envers point of view, which is what we are being asked to do. I can't remember how I figured it out yesterday, but I think I remember turning the knitting over to the other side to see if I had the right hole of the stockinette loop, because it was knit on the previous side. The first bit is the most difficult, until you see the rib emerging and then it's a breeze.

I figured out the pattern once it was started and I could see it to keep going to know if AI needed to do the k1 below or just knit across. My problem was that I accidentally made a mistake and then I tried to take it out - that's what happened! I couldn't figure out how to fix my k1below. Then I pulled out the whole row and stared at it. Seriously. It had three loops everywhere So I unraveled the next row and realized that third row of loops was where you just knit across; to find out that I still didn't understand which loop went in first and then what came next - a mess.

My week 1 squares are all 10 inches. We knit to a maximum of 55 stitches. So I don't understand how 37 stitches will give us the same size no matter how many times we repeat the pattern. Won't it be skinnier??
I know math isn't my forte, help me understand how these squares will be the same size.
