Helping Hands for CAL

Postby Kathleen » Wed Feb 22, 2012 10:33 pm

Hello all.

I'm the silly person who's never crocheted before and has decided that this is the way I will try to learn. This sight as been very good for video help, but I'm snagged up on Clue two.

I have finished round 3 and fastened off as instructed. And now its time to start round four, but i'm not sure the proper way to do a slip stitch with a new piece of yarn to a closed off part of the thread. So any help on how to do that would be very beneficial and I can't find any videos for it.

Thank you so much! I just cheated and got to the same place in 3 of them while I was waiting for replies :) I was having too much fun to stop so I just did what I could. But its midnight here now, so I'll have to try to do what you linked me to tomorrow.

Kathleen,
The other thing you can do is to just slip stitch right to the third dc instead of fastening off and reattaching. It may give the appearance of looking a little "thick" on that side, but in the whole scheme of the afghan, will anyone really notice? I think not, and it's way easier.

Thanks for the tip stitchychic. I've already cut 3 of them, but I may do that for the others.

Postby jujuquilt » Thu Feb 23, 2012 4:24 pm

I have attempted round 3 twice and it is ruffled. Any one have any ideas what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance

It will be a bit "ruffled" and 3D until almost the last row. Even then, there will be a little bit of texture to it. I like the look of it this way.

Not only will it looked ruffled after round 3, but it will look downright pucked after row 4, but keep going as the square flattens out, leaving the flower with a little bit of texture as Stephanie said above.

Jujuquilt, definitely keep going!!! The flower flattens out when you block it.
