I have a very bunched-up flower petal thing going on, not to mention my motifs are way too small!

Does anyone else have the flower petals looking 3-dimensional and kinda bunchie? Or am I crocheting too tightly?

I have heard they are supposed to look 3d, and it is a little stretchy, good luck!!

They ARE very bunchy, so I am using fewer stitches for them (3dc instead of 5), and that helps. In fact I even like a VERY minimal version, just sc + 3 dc + sc, and then a slip stitch into the sc below between petals. Willo try to post a picture eventually!

My flower motif is kinda bunchy too. Finally figured out row 5 & 6 only to complete the whole clue and it only measures 8.5 inches..omg  I guess it a do over :knit: I used a H8 5mm. Should I go up a size? :hrmm:

I actually like that it's "bunchy" in the middle. I think it's a pretty cool effect. :idonno:

I'm wondering if a lot of issues with bunching is tension. I really concentrated on keeping my yarn and hand 'loose' and even the flower lays out pretty well. My finished motif measures around 10 inches; BUT when I put it on the blocking template and stretch it (this pattern has a lot of give to it), it easily will block to the 11 inches. Blocking also opens up the pattern so you can see the lovely design. :)

My first Clue 2 motif done. Used MC first because I wanted to see what it was going to look like. Color A is Dark Orchid. I am going to do that one now.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this color!

I'm sorry you are frustrated. :(
It might be good if you copy and paste the pattern into a document on your computer. Then enlarge the size of the text, so it's easier to read. You could also arrange it in a row by row order, so you can check off each section as you do it. I sometimes have to do that to make it easier to work certain patterns.

Great tips Shandeh! These are taking me much longer, partly because I have two small children and trying to crochet while they are awake is virtually impossible. I am thinking these tips will help me put it down mid row and be able to pick right back up w/o trying to figure out where I left off...
