My Clue 1 squirkles are about 1/4" off so no biggie. My finished Clue 2 octagon...9 inches...same hook....same yarn...same grip on the hook and hold on the yarn. My question is what gives????? This many people having the same problem seems a bit hinky to me.
When I've looked at some of the photos in the spoiler thread, I've noticed that some people do their chains very tightly. I'm thinking that this might be drawing in the size of the motif. Is this something you might be experiencing in your motif?

If I crochet any looser it's going to look sloppy. Right now I'm using a size K hook and I think it's a bit sloppy looking so I'm not really liking the thought of having to switch hooks back and forth between clues. It's a beautiful pattern and I really like the way it looks. I also am pretty sure that blocking won't even correct a 2 inch difference without really stretching and making it look distorted. At this point I'm not sure what to do...either use an even bigger hook and risk a sloppy look or just go with what I've got with a hook that's already 3 times bigger than recommended or what.
