Handicrafter "Scents"

Postby KatieRN » Sat Feb 18, 2012 11:36 am

I am hooking up a Nubby Scrubby Dishcloth using the Scented Handicrafter in Camomille, and I'm loving the smell.

Anyone have experience with this yarn. Does it keep it's scent after being used/washed?

The best way to retain the scent of the yarn would be to wash it in cold water with unscented detergent and softener. You could then hang it to dry, which would make the scent last even longer.

I'm just speaking from experience here. You might want to contact Bernat at inquire@bernat.com to get their recommendations.

Similar to any scented item, the fragrance will fade after time. The Scents fragrance will linger approximately three standard washings.

Bought some scented yarn and I didn't know quite what to expect. I noticed the smell as I'm pulling the yarn. Was concerned on how long the scents lasts and I found the answer on here.
I'm such the Happy Hooker and love to twirl some yarn.

Hi KatieRN--I agree; the Chamomile scent is just intoxicating! :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:
I made a pair of slippers with it (love the color too!) -- the scent lasted thru a washing or so, but the yarn is holding up beautifully.

That's good to know :). Slippers what a good idea. I made a dishcloth and put it in a drawer. It smells the same after six months. I haven't washed it yet.

Hi zhanie! :) The dishcloth as a sachet sounds great too! I'll bet it scents your other towels nicely. :cloud9:
I like to use Handicrafter (Lily Sugar n' Cream is much more available in my neck of the woods. . .) for slippers. They are very comfy for warmer-weather wear, the cotton is very breathe-able and absorbs moisture from tootsies. :P

Another idea would be to use the scented yarn to make a curtain or valance with. . .

Oh I didn't know about scented yarn! I luv this idea. It would add so much more to the knitting part. Knitting is soothing and calming and then aromatherapy on top of that? Lovely! :D

I bought some by accident the other day. I was looking for some cotton for dishclothe and I was just going by color. But I realized it smelled amazing. Now i don't want to use it for a dishcloth! :hellogoodbye:
