KerryLeeHaas wrote:I worked the pattern three times with different hooks (I, J and K) and it still came up short. Then I used the 6.5mm K hook and changed the DC to a TC in the last two rows of the pattern and it came out to a perfect 11 x 11. It bugs me that I couldn't use the same I Hook I used in Clue 1 to get the proper gauge in Clue 2 but I'm so happy the gauge is correct now.

I ripped it out and did it again with an I hook and now it's 10 1/2". I usually crochet very loosely as I only wrap the yarn around my index finger and don't hold it. The piece already looks too lacey to me with an I hook and I'm wondering if I should re-do with a J hook to try for the exact 11" or just attempt to pull my blocks to the 11" by pinning? How important is it for this to be 11" since the clue says approximate 11"?![]()

I think you should be just fine with them at 10.5 inches

My first Clue 2 motif done. Used MC first because I wanted to see what it was going to look like. Color A is Dark Orchid. I am going to do that one now.
