Crochet-Along Clue 2: Spoilers and Photos

Your idea to work a couple extra rounds helped - thank you I did a round of double crochet then a round of half double crochet.

I worked the pattern three times with different hooks (I, J and K) and it still came up short. Then I used the 6.5mm K hook and changed the DC to a TC in the last two rows of the pattern and it came out to a perfect 11 x 11. It bugs me that I couldn't use the same I Hook I used in Clue 1 to get the proper gauge in Clue 2 but I'm so happy the gauge is correct now.

I'm having a devil of a time with clue 2. I had the swatch and clue 1 work out right with an H hook, but now in clue 2, I used an H hook and got only a 9" block. I ripped it out and did it again with an I hook and now it's 10 1/2". I usually crochet very loosely as I only wrap the yarn around my index finger and don't hold it. The piece already looks too lacey to me with an I hook and I'm wondering if I should re-do with a J hook to try for the exact 11" or just attempt to pull my blocks to the 11" by pinning? How important is it for this to be 11" since the clue says approximate 11"?

I think you should be just fine with them at 10.5 inches

My first Clue 2 motif done. Used MC first because I wanted to see what it was going to look like. Color A is Dark Orchid. I am going to do that one now.

Thank you so much!!! Teal has become my favorite color in the last few years. It was purple forever!! Thankfully, the 2 colors go good together!!

Just wanted to say Thanks to Shandeh for the reminder of copying and pasting the clue into my own format. This clue now (for me ) is in a bigger font, with a space between the rounds, and with the "groups" of clues on different lines. I know this will make it easier for me, even though I have already done two of my blocks.

I love the baby blanket someone has already completed in this pattern. I really like this block and would never have attempted it except for this challenge. So thanks for getting me out of my comfort zone! I thought about putting the flower a different color, but decided to actually follow directions!

I'm actually quite proud that I was able to do this clue!

I could see just keeping making rounds in this same pattern for a table topper, or doily, or just as a bigger block, like making 4 or 6 of thm to join together into a baby afghan or more for a regular size one.

Also wanted to add that I love all the pictures, hints, and even frustrations voiced here in the forum. I know we are going to end up with some great looking projects!
