All done but the blocking, once I get that I'll post my pics. I started after most so when I read about the gauge trouble, I loosened my tension and ended up at the 11 inches but way to sloppy and ruffley (don't know how to say it...). Anyway, on the second one I decided to use my regular tension with the H hook and was only about 1/2" to small, but it blocked out to the full 11 inches. Now my only problem is that I will either have to block my clue one to fit the blocked clue two, or not block the rest of clue two. Still trying to decide if I should redo the first motif... :hrmm:

I really do like this clue, so very pretty.

Using H hook, regular tension, ended up 10 1/2", no puckers.
Started with magic circle.
2nd round, CH6 instead of CH5.
4th round, slip stitched over to the DC and CH 6 instead of CH5.

A huge thanks to all who suggested CH6!

No worries. The only thing you have left to do with A is a little bit of seaming.

I like glancing at that chart occasionally as I make my motifs. It just offers a little encouragement that I'm on the right track.

I had to redo my first one 3 times before I got it right. I didn't understand the charts before, they were confusing to me. Now I learned something new, how to read the charts. Can't wait for the next clue. :cloud9: :D

Awesome! Isn't it wonderful to learn a new skill?

This pattern was designed for the Waverly yarn, which is a fluffy, soft yarn. Are you using that yarn? Some other worsted weight yarns might not have as much give as the Waverly does.

I stopped at the J hook with 10 1/2" because I was gettting very frustrated. You make a good point that it's for that specific type of yarn. Like others here, I'm using up some stash yarn (Red Heart/Caron). Maybe that's why we had such trouble getting guage also maybe that's why mine looks so lacey compared to some of the others?

I think it could explain some of the problems. I have learned that it's usually best to use the specified yarn for a knitting pattern, because it was designed with that yarn in mind. I sometimes make substitutions, for budget reasons, or because I prefer a different color. Sometimes it works well, other times it just kinda works. :?

I used a 5mm hook and followed the pattern exactely. I am not concerned yet but will add an sc row if I feel the need later.

I had to go up to a size 8.00 mm/L hook to get 11in, keep going bigger in hook sizes. I had to make 4 before I finally got it the right size!! who the heck can get 11 in with a size H or 5mm hook, they must crochet very loosely!

I used an H hook, and I crochet loosely. I used to crochet tight when I was younger, but it caused a lot of pain in my hands and wrists. Had to learn to relax, and let the yarn flow.

Yep, I'm using the Waverly yarn, I guess its a real eye opener because I never thought I was a tight crocher! I crochet fast and even and my work isn't bunchy or tight and I don't cause my hands to hurt. So I figured at this point it would be best to just go up the hook sizes because if I attempt to loosen up you now I'm just going to go tighter again and I dont want my work willy-nilly. I was just wondering if I should make the flower in a smaller hook size and the rest in the larger. I've noticed some others on the forum doing this. I will try to post a pic later :D
