Double Crochet and Treble Crochet without a turning chain

Not sure if this is the best forum for this, but figured it was a start.

Found this posted on Facebook this morning and it's awesome. Used the technique with some grannies I'm working on and I love the look. Much better than those ch2, ch3, or ch4s.

That is really nice technique! Hoping I can remember it for clue CAL 3, thank you so much for sharing that.

Thank you for finding this and posting it.
I have been using this for clue 3 and find it so much nicer! I even figured out how to use it as the first stitch with the magic circle! :D It does take practice though, sometimes I have to remove it for being too tight or too loose, but it is getting easier to get it correct the first time out. I love the look! And another bonus I did notice, it is so much easier to see the stitch when joining in the round! I used to always count wrong cuz I just could not see the first chain (fake) double crochet

Darn, I wish I had seen this before I finished clue #3. I hate those weird gaps that happen with beginning chains. Although I guess it does help find the first stitch in a round if I get lost.

I want to find another project just so that I can try these techniques. Thanks for sharing!!!
