Crafter18 wrote:Hi I did two gauge swatches. The first with size 8 needles which was too large. So I switched to size 7 needles and that gauge swatch was right on. So I just finished my first clue 1 square and it measures 10.5 inches. Do you think with blocking, I will be able to match the template? Any suggestions welcome! Thanks!

Periodically, stretch out your work and check it. It's easy to get too comfy with the "knit below" and accidentally miss that sweet spot (the v below the bar of the last round's knit stitch). If you do, you'll end up with a huge hole. It can be fixed by using a crochet hook and very carefully pulling the dropped stitch up. This isn't as immediately obvious as dropping a stitch normally is...you'll still have the normal number on your needle.

I feel that I am a bit slower than so many others, but at least am getting them done.
Love that stretchy rib stitch, it would make a lovely winter hat.

I am getting weird hanging loops and the end of each row. So I tried just snugging up on the next row to fix it and it doesn't seem to help. I definitely think it is just the simple fact that the second last stitch of each row is that k1below - but just wondering if there is a trick I am missing to help keep the edges nice. I am not terribly worried about it since I assume once I stitch the squares together it will just be hidden in the seam - but best to deal with and fix it before I have a problem right?!
