Wavery yarn

Postby Cynfullknitter » Wed Feb 29, 2012 7:52 pm

Why is my white yarn from wavery, thicker and the texture is different I dont like it. I have to go down a needle size so I can make the block, then back to 8 for second yarn. Hope I make the block

I have noticed with ALL brands of yarns, that the white is always the fluffiest. It's just one of those things that happens. I think that dye changes the texture and thickness of every yarn. It's interesting to feel all the different colors of a particular yarn...because there is always a slight difference in all of them.

My Gypsy Gold was incredibly rough to work with. In fact so rough had I not worked with so many different colours of Waverly already (from trying to make 3 Along's) I would have been disappointed in this brand and wanted to return them all. Gypsy Gold scratched up my poor fingers to boot. Ugh! I want my soft cushy yarn back!

Interesting! Those dyes really do change the yarns. I don't think it's my imagination.

I have been told by 2 other yarn manufacturers that 1 knot in a skein is allowed by industry standards. Definitely use the email address they gave you to explain the issues. I have contacted other companies twice and have received replacements. I hope Bernat gives the same good service. Good luck!

Being new to crochet, I didn't know if this was normal or if I just bought "bad" skeins! So far I found these "knots" in 2 of my skeins and didn't know until I was in the middle of a row! Wasn't sure how I should deal with it.... seemed annoying to rip the row out just to cut this out and rejoin!? I totally agree ..... UGH!!!!!!!!

I had the same problem and decided to change colors. I also didn't care much for the "yellowiness" of the yarn. I was hoping for a more golden color as that's what it looked like when I ordered it. Oh well, I'll find something to use it for....may have to wear crafter's gloves when I use it to keep it from rubbing my fingers raw though.

knots tied by yarn company

Postby pinecastlesharon » Mon Mar 19, 2012 8:44 am

I find knots so frustrating. They usually appear in the middle of the row so that I have to rip back to beginning of the row. I was feeling so good about this yarn as I had not "had a Knot" And I was on the next to last square. Then it happened! I don't like weaving the ends into the pattern and always feel there is a "weak" spot that will appear later

I am really looking forward to what the free pattern will be for each family.
I figure since the other families all have one free pattern that there will be the same with the new families along with the pattern book that you buy.

And for those who like me sorely missed the lack of any purples in the Waverly line, There is now a Thistle in Modern Essential, which is a shade of purple.
Even the Waverly page has not updated itself! So you know this is new new new!
