I have to go up a hook size in general because I crochet very tight. My Clue #2 motifs were around 9-10 inches when completed using an "I" hook but I stretched it to be 11 inches when I blocked. So, do I stay with the same hook for Clue #3 (looks like its going to also measure 11 inches) and stretch it? or go up another hook size "J" to get it closer to 11 inches the first time around...........?

I would recommend using the same hook you used for Clue 2, because this motif also needs to be loose.

yes, but I stretched the heck out of Clue 2 for it to be 11 inches using an 'I' hook (I got ahead of myself and finished all 6 before measuring   ) By going up another size, would that end up messing up the seams when it comes to attaching? :idonno:

You don't have to have exactly the same number of rows or stitches to seam motifs together. We will have tutorials and videos available for seaming as well.

If you are stretching your motifs too much, the yarn could be stretched too thin. Maybe you should just add some extra rows of single or half-double crochet to make the motifs larger, so they fit in the template?

oh that's a great tip.....I don't want to stretch this next step like I did the last. I'll use the same hook as you suggested and add a row or 2 if necessary. Thanks bunches!!!

I'm still doing clue two, so I'm getting a bit behind. luckly I didnt have the gauge issues that others have had. I like the square but still have to get use the thickness of the yarn, I usually work in DK.

one more motif for Clue 2 to go! slacked off a little this week I suppose, not to mention when I got to the end of a nicely completed motif and cut the yarn that I discovered I only had 7 "petals" hence, the one more motif to go! will definitely get on Clue 3 this weekend though.

ps: everyone's motifs and colors are looking great!!!

I am finally done with clue #2. It was a little frustrating because I could not get it to measure 11x11. I finally got it figured out last night ( after redoing the clue several times).

I am ready to start clue #3 over the weekend. Hope it's not as frustrating.

I'm so glad you got Clue #2 figured out! Clue #3 has some new techniques that will offer a challenge, but we are all helping each other. I got my first motif for that clue finished yesterday, after advice and encouragement from the more experienced crocheters. You will probably want to use the same hook you used for Clue #2, since this motif also needs to be loosely crocheted, and should measure the same size.
