Knit-Along Clue 2

So I am definitely behind - but I have a quick question on this one - if anyone is still even looking at this thread (fingers crossed!!!). I am getting weird hanging loops and the end of each row. So I tried just snugging up on the next row to fix it and it doesn't seem to help. I definitely think it is just the simple fact that the second last stitch of each row is that k1below - but just wondering if there is a trick I am missing to help keep the edges nice. I am not terribly worried about it since I assume once I stitch the squares together it will just be hidden in the seam - but best to deal with and fix it before I have a problem right?!

You might want to compare your work to the pictures posted on the Clue 2 Spoiler thread. From how you describe the end of your row, I think you are probably fine.

Definitely have far bigger loops on the end than in the spoiler. Like - I can put my finger through it. Anyone that can help - would definitely appreciate it. Made negative progress on my lunch knitting session - had to rip out the whole square.

I just figured out I had been doing the knit one below completely wrong, now I have to start clue 2 all over again. It would be easier if we could see what the stitch looked like when given the clue. I don't mean the whole block just a few rows to compare with.

Also, loved your Cable Yoke Sweater and want to make it! Does the Bernat Roving break easily? Could that pattern be made with Softee Chunky? Thanks and glad you are feeling better!

Bernat Roving is a loosely-spun yarn, with lots of strands flowing straight beside each other.....similar to wool roving before it is stretched and spun into yarn. So, if you pull very hard on the yarn, it will pull apart. But knitting or crocheting with it will make it into a nice, sturdy fabric. It is thicker than Softee Chunky, so that yarn would not work for the Cable Yoke Sweater. Bernat Roving works up to 12 stitches per inch, and Softee Chunky works up to 15 stitches per inch.

Thank you, Shandeh! I had a bad experience with some Icelandic yarn a long time ago, so I am wary of roving-type yarn, but I really want that sweater, so I'm going to give Bernat Roving a try.

Let us know how it works out for you! I think you'll really enjoy working with that yarn. Just remember to occasionally turn your skein of yarn around a few times, to keep the yarn from twisting too much. My trick to avoid that happening is to turn my work the OTHER way around at the end of the row every once in a while.

beginning knitter here --- basic question of casting on.....

When casting on -- the foundation loop, is it counted as a stitch? For example in clue 2 you need to cast on 37--- does that mean including the foundation loop - that there really is 38 sticthes on the kneedle?!?

I was able to fudge the 1/2 stitches on the foundation cast on of clue one --- but for size and stitch pattern it is more difficult to read in clue 2 for me.....

The foundation loop, which I'm assuming is the slip knot, does count as a stitch. So you make the slip knot and cast on an additional 36 stitches.

ok finish my last square from clue 1. Now I am starting clue 2 I never done this st. before I check out the video and readed some of the post poeple put on here. Now I am going to started .

I am just getting started on clue 2 and am having an extremely hard time with it so far...I have frogged so many times tonight I can't even count anymore....after 6 hrs at it I am ready to throw in the towel! Since this is supposed to be similar to the K1P1 could I just make 4 blocks with that stitch?

Feel free to do whatever you want with the squares. As long as they measure the same as the others, you'll be fine.
