Knit - Is it possible to frog bottoms up?

Postby karenarp » Sun Mar 04, 2012 8:45 am

It has occurred to me that my first square of clue 3 is perfect on the second side.
So I was wondering if knitting can be taken out from the bottom?
I figure I could somehow get the row needed onto my needles and just work the first pattern bottom up, for the most part.
This way I can keep all the work I put into the second side and fix the first side hopefully. There is nothing more I hate in life than to undo time and work I have put into something, especially when it took so much of my time in the first place. I just cannot knit a square faster than about 4-5 hours time.

Which leads me to a secondary question, how long is it taking for everyone else to knit one square? I know it isn't a race.

I am on my third square and I think it will probably take me about 3 hours from start to finish.

I don't think that you can undo from the bottom, if you did it would be like untieing a great big complicated knot one stitch at a time. At least I know that is the case with crocheting. I haven't timed how long it takes me to knit a square, but this weeks clue is definately taking me the longest. I have also decided to slow down and enjoy the process, sometimes doing a mini-CAL such as crocheting a dishcloth or a purse inbetween. :cloud9: my living room is full of beautiful things I have made. I love it! :cloud9:

It is possible to unravel knitting from the bottom, but the first row is very frustrating, because it has to be done very carefully, one stitch at a time. And then, you have the problem of how to recreate and CONNECT the new knitting to the piece. The only real option I know of is to cut the project at the part where the problem ends, and reknit the bottom, then connect it with kitchener stitch. But that takes more time than just knitting the whole square again. Good luck!
