I estimate that this clue will take me about 3 hrs. However, the last clue is taking me about 4 hrs. For me, it depends on the pattern.

some diligence on my part to make sure which row I'm on. I hate having to pay attention ! lol
I'm going to start marking the row I'm on with a pencil dot in case I'm interrupted at any point.

Just finished my first square, and found an easy way to track what row I was on (well it worked for me, anyway). What I did for the WS/odd-numbered rows was to find the first k1 below st from the prev WS row, follow that st up to my needle, and started counting back towards the beginning with p,k,p etc. knowing that the first st was always k. So you start with either 1 knit st or 2 knit sts.

Hope this helps someone else!

Okay, I finally got time to sit down and seriously look at this weeks clue. I like your suggestion Knittycrocheter... Similarly I find that if, when you are ready to do a ws pattern row, you just have to look at the previous rows first k1b, or I see it as the first vertical V row and count back to the first st on the needle... if there are 4 stitches before it, it is a K1 row.. if there are 5 sts before the first vertical V row it is a k2 row. Hope this makes sense, it is hard to explain.
I too want to say I am loving the mystery of this project. I've been knitting like crazy to keep up but love every minute of it. I just have to not let myself get stressed over all the other things that aren't getting done because I am knitting. At least my husband sort of understands, but my daughter thinks that the baby sweater I'm knitting for my granddaughter should be finished by now! Oh well, perhaps once there is catch up time with this afghan I can finish off that sweater. I just hope she doesn't outgrow it before I even get a chance to finish.. unfortunate for me baby's grow quickly!

Just finished clue #1 tonight. Have 1 each of clues 2 & 3, but I'm getting burnt out. At least clues 2 & 4 only have 4 squares so maybe I stand a shot at getting closer to being caught up...

Off to read Clue 4 and then sleep!

:hellogoodbye: I'm always anxious to get started on the new Clue when it comes out! However, I haven't started this 4th one yet. I finished the 6th square of Clue #3 just last night, and was so excited to be nearly done with that clue, so I began and worked on the 7th square today instead of starting Clue #4. I was also looking forward to reading everyone's comments about the new clue that were posted throughout the day before I actually started my new squares. I'm real excited about the mystery of this KAL!! I still have 3 squares to go on Clue #1, 1 1/2 on Clue #3, and...when I went to block Clue #2, I found out they were too long, so I need to try to take out several rows on each of the 4 that I got done. I'm SO hoping that I won't have to frog them and start them over!!! Since it seems that there won't be any more squares to do after this clue, I hope we get a catch up week next so we can get all of our squares finished before starting something different!!! :knit:

Have started clue 4 and if I can knit one each day that will give me a few days rest before I start the borders.
Am trying to also knit baby things for a coming great grandchild,
this will be our 4th great grand child,

SooNet wrote:I suspect to balance this afghan that there may be something down the middle to balance the width with the length to meet the measurements and have a 2 inch border. Just my guess! Now I'm excited to see what next week will bring.

I am guessing we will put the squares together in groups of four, like a pinwheel quilt look. I wonder if we will then put a border around each four square group and then sew the groups together?

I did some quick math on this and if we assemble the squares 4 wide by 6 long, we have 7" less in the width and 2" less in the length than the finished measurements. So....something to add to the width maybe? Like long panels between squares??? Or maybe the squares will be positioned as diamonds and we knit triangles between?

Hmm... :hrmm:

Isn't it FUN trying to figure out how they will all work together? :D  :D
