Re: Crochet-Along Clue 4

Postby crochetqueen » Wed Mar 07, 2012 4:19 pm

Ok Ladies, I know how much I hate to cook on clue day so I thought I would share my most delicious spaghetti sauce that takes 1-24 hours to cook. This means that you can cook it the day before or all day the day of. Honestly I like to cook it the day of. I put it in the pot around 11 and simmer it all day long...makes the house smell so yummy! The leftovers freeze really well to so you can have another meal done and ready to go on a sick day or to offer to someone else. I tend to take half of it to my parents when I cook it so my mom doesn't have to cook that night. I posted a new topic called CrochetQueen's Spaghetti Sauce if you would like to have it!
Happy hooking and Happy eating!

Crock Pot/Slow Cooker Taco Soup

Postby crochetqueen » Wed Mar 07, 2012 7:34 pm

THIS RECEIPE IS COMPLETELY GLUTEN FREE!!!!

You will need:
2 cans kidney beans, drained & rinsed
2 cans pinto beans, drained & rinsed
2 cans corn with liquid (if you prefer to use frozen or fresh add 1/2 cup water)
1 LARGE can diced tomatoes with liquid
1 can tomatoes & chilies with liquid
1 pkg Taco Seasoning (I use mild but if you like spice you can use hot or whatever)
1 pkg dry ranch dressing mix (I use Hidden Valley but whatever brand you use will not change the flavor)
1 pound ground turkey or beef, browned and drained
2 teaspoons Tabasco (more or less if desired at all)
Grated Cheese (Walmart brand has a bag that has taco seasoning in it...this adds a lot of extra flavor! Super yummy)
Sour Cream
Scoops Tortilla chips (we use scoops because we don't use silverware when we eat this meal)

To prepare:
Place cooked meat in bottom of crock pot, add taco and ranch packages.
ADD beans, then corn, then tomatoes. STIR
Cook on low for 8-10hrs or high 4-5hrs The longer it cooks the better!

My 6QT cooker is full to the brim...don't worry it cooks down after an hour or so.
Leftovers freeze well...that is if you have any ;)

Re: What's for Dinner?

Postby Shandeh » Mon Mar 19, 2012 1:55 pm

Right now, I have too many choices for dinner. I found lots of stuff on sale at my local grocery store, so my refrigerator is full of meat. I have ground turkey, and everything else I need to make some chili. I also have two thick pork chops, marinating in olive oil, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, and seasonings. And there is half a pizza leftover from yesterday. Decisions, decisions....
