OK, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. My "wrong side" does not look like the pictures at all. I am only getting the stockinette "V"s on the right side. On the back it looks like the "dropped" stitch makes a horizontal bar. Sorry I don't have a picture, I ended up frogging the piece yesterday when I realized I was doing it wrong out of frustration :idonno:

I may do it "wrong" again just to take a picture to show you...

Thank you Shandeh for posting the videos of how to do Clue 2. My question was answered by the way you did the K1below. I was not going behind the top needle completely! Your videos ended many hours of frustration! Thank you!!!
