Crochet-Along Clue 1

I finally got around to completing my first square and I'm happy to say that there was no need to redo the square. It came out to be the exact size it needed to be; which is a first for me.

The colors I chose are Birch White, Breath of Blue, Beautiful Blue, Stone Brown, and Colonial Beige. They sound like some would severely contrast, but I pulled the colors from a rug I have in my living room. I can't wait to see how they all come together.

I just finished my first motif from clue 1 and when I put it up to the block pattern it is much smaller. I followed all the stitches correctly. So what could of happened

Which yarn are you using? What size hook?
The motif should measure 4.5 inches by 4.5 inches.

You might want to switch to a larger hook, or try crocheting looser.

I am using worsted weight with a hook size H.

Mine too! Mine is about 1/2" too small. When I did my gauge swatch it was the correct size but not my first motif. I'm going to "try" again a little looser but I may end up going to a larger hook.

Well I just did another motif and used looser stitches and it is the perfect size now!!

I have been thinking if I should start the CAL. I decided yesterday that I should. So I have completed 4 out of the 12 motifs. I hope I can catch up.

Go for it--you can catch up in no time!!!!!!!!!
