So glad to see this is a breather week! I was out of town when the KAL began. I just finished the 8 (!) squares from Week 1 and started the first Week 2 square yesterday (and breathing a sign of relief that there are only 4 of them). So I'm pretty far behind, I guess.

I have never blocked before, but, promised myself if I was going to do this, I would do all of it. So, as soon as I get clue 4 for kal done, I will try the blocking.

How is it possible that we have been working on this for 5 weeks?! Guess time flies when you are having fun and learning new things.

can someone explain to me how blocking works with acrylic yarns? i thought blocking only worked with natural fibers. does the blocking with acrylic just help to get the squares more uniform for sewing together? does it actually last?

This is my first post as I have been having family issues and have barely had the time to do my knitting let alone anything else. Today I have read several of the posts from all of you and it is great to hear what you have all been doing. I hope all of you that are haveing some frustrations  and are behind, keep up the work you have started. I have been teaching :knit: for about 30 years to students of all ages (presently 55 and up) and I would like to encourage you to finish no matter what. I just finished my final square last night. :bravo: Yeah! Now with the blocking and a trial layout. This has been fun and interesting. I am looking forward to what is left. :?:

It works great, and it makes a real difference in how the knitted item looks.
Here's a blog article that has photos and comments to prove it:
