I've been asked to post a larger picture of my dog that I use for my avatar. Kodiak is a Bernese Mountain dog that came to us as a puppy from Germany; he is currently 4 yrs old. And he can't understand why he can't be a lap dog just because he weighs about 115 pounds. I just had to take this second picture of Kodiak to show our vet because he didn't believe me when I told him the dog was double-jointed. I can't imagine this being a comfortable position, but he seems to think so.

Today, I stopped at Walmart to buy a few necessities.

While I was there, I looked at all the pretty fish in the pet section, and decided to buy myself a betta.
He's beautiful!

I used to have bettas a few years ago, so it's nice to have another one.
I love watching him flutter around the bowl. It's like having a butterfly in a vase! :cloud9:

This particular betta is very healthy and lovely to watch. He eats well, and is very active. Love him!

Links to photos of my cats. Miss Lilah is the calico & Lucy is the little rolly-polly. Both love yarn. Whenever I am working on a project, I have at least 2 decoy balls of yarn for them to play with!

(Shandeh edited photos so they would display here)

Stitchintraveler, such tiny little dogs! They are precious. Didn't matter about the photo order, they are labelled! ;)
Did you train Sweet Pea to be your service dog? I am sure she provides you much comfort.
Poor little Cailan, thank you for finding a spot in your heart and home for saving him. I bet after he settles in and gets through puppy stage, he will repay you with unlimited devotion. It is just criminal in my opinion that you had to "bargain" for him when store was going to PTS anyway. That is just so sad, but unfortunately most pet shops view animals as commodities and not deserving lives.

Sweet Pea is mostly a self taught Service Dog. When I noticed that she was trying to "help" me before I had an episode, I taught her a specific "alert" behavior. Being a Service Dog is very stressful for Sweet Pea as she takes her duties very seriously so the little boys are her companions, they help her play and just be a dog. All three of these little fur kids bring me great joy.
I am a big softie, it is probably a good thing that I live in a tiny little apartment or I would have a whole big pack of dogs of all sizes. I just hate that there are fur kids that are being PTS'd every day because there is no one who is willing to give them the love and care that they deserve. Even though Cailan lost the genetic race, he is the sweetest, most gentle little soul you could ever imagine. I have gotten used to his "unique" appearance and I just see the beauty of his little personality. He certainly brought a new element to the pack dynamic. My children call me "The Dog Crazy Lady". They could be right.

My betta fish is very happy. :cloud9:

He is still eating well, and dances all over the bowl when I come in the room. I've never seen a fish this sociable before! :) He is so happy that he already has a nice bubble nest on top of the bowl. I just love watching him blow bubbles to add on to it. Too bad he doesn't have a mate to lay eggs in there. But, at least he's happy.

I haven't named him yet, though. He's mostly blue-violet, with blue and red fins.

I'm gonna try to post a little video of him here:

Good choice of pet, Shandeh! I think betta fish are just the coolest thing to watch; they always look so graceful with their fan tails just waving in the water. And even better, no pet hair to clean up on the floors and furniture!

I have one cat, Silver, domestic shorthair, silver and light grey stripes, 12 years old. 2 gerbils, kinky and inky, Kinky has a kinked tail. 1 Calico fantail goldfish named patches, and 1 chinese algae eater that won't eat algae....lol. I also have one mystery snail. No name for the snail but he does his best to keep the algae down. I will have to take pictures and post later or go through my 500 photos to find the cat and gerbils...lol

Here are their pictures minus the goldfish and chinese algae eater. They are hiding right now and won't come out.

My first elkhound would lay like Kodiak all the time, I thought she looked like a seal with flippers stuck out. I've never seen other breeds lay like that till now!

Enjoyed seeing everyone's photos!

We have a zoo at the moment. I have an Norwegian Elkhound, Shasta and 3 cats, gray Pepper, part Siamese Coconut and dilute calico Sunny. When Sunny and her late sister Tigger were young we came home from a vacation to our house tied up with yarn. They had found several balls of yarn and had a blast unrolling the balls. My mom cleaned it all up and thought she hid all the yarn but they found them and did it again so we walked into to yarn everywhere. It went up the hall into the kitchen/ family room, into the dining/front room, back into the family room through a different door and back down the hall, going around table legs and chairs in all the rooms. Wish I'd have taken pictures...lol.
My daughter lives with us and she has 3 cats, black Belle, calico Cleo and Coconut's sister Salt. Salt is the yarn fiend and will chew through daughter's yarn in seconds so she has to hide the working strand as Salt will lay on her project as she crochets.
Also during the week we go get my other daughter's 2 dogs, Pomeranian Kerri and Sheba Inu Zoe, so they don't have to be alone all day while she is at work. Add in a 3 year old and it is a zoo.
