Help with Softee Baby crochet baby blanket

Postby verbena99 » Sun Mar 18, 2012 11:18 pm

This is pictured as a very open lacy blanket. Completed the first motif, but can't figure out how to complete 2nd. According to pattern, I'm supposed to join each motif to the previous to make rows, but I can't figure out the pattern. Has anyone made this and can help? Thanks.

Is this the pattern?

The picture is terrible and then having white blanket on white sheet is no help, either, and no chart.
I am thinking the second motif will be on the left of the first one? And Follow the instructions but they loose me
when halfway thru they say 2 dc in sl st. after you have already done 2 dc so it would be going backwards? I hope someone else can help you figure it out, sorry.

With RS of 1st Motif facing, join to left top corner of 1st Motif as follows: Ch 3. Sl st in 4th ch of corner ch of 1st Motif. Ch 3. 2 dc in same st. 1 dc in each of next 3 sts. Sl st in 3rd dc on side edge of 1st Motif. 1 dc in each of next 2 sts. 2 dc in sl st. Ch 3. Sl st in 4th ch of next corner of 1st Motif. Ch 3. 1 dc in same sl st. Sl st in top of ch 3. Fasten off.

That helps A LOT. Maybe you should suggest to the Bernat people they post that photo.
Anyway, I think then it is slip stitch in other motif, then back to the one you are working on, do 1 dc in each of the next two st., then 2 dc in LAST stitch, not sl st. like they wrote. Maybe?

The method described in the pattern is a join-as-you-go, but not very well written in my humble opinion. I agree that Bernat should post a better picture than the white on white; a close-up of the motifs would also be beneficial so you could maybe see where you are placing your stitches.

Please keep us posted if you figure out the motif joins and complete the blanket.

I think the reason Bernat chose white on white is because you can click on different yarn colours, and the picture will change to show you what the different colours look like. Just click on the "color clicker" to the right of the photo.
