I finally have two of the KAL clues done. Almost have 3 of clue three done and 4 of clue 1 done. But still lots of catch up to do! :knit: :knit: :knit: :knit:

I have finished all my squares for clues 1-4. I don't know what to do with myself right now, so I thought I would do a post. I did block 4 squares today. I guess that will take some time.

Wow! That's quite an accomplishment! I have all the blocking left to do and 4 retakes of Clue 3 yet.... It was too Nice out this afternoon that I just had to go out and see my plants. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 20 or 22 degrees so maybe I'll sit out and knit with my plants!

Same here, but glad I decided to block a few every day while finishing clue 4. It takes a long time for them to dry to I try to block 4 in the morning to my ironing table before moving on to knitting.

i ended up having a block party (har har) and blocked all of the squares that i have knit so far. i used my steamer and an old cork board that i had laying around. the cork board actually isn't ideal since cork bubbles if it gets wet, but it worked well enough on the fly. the squares turned out quite nice, and it even sort of fixed my first funny clue #3 square, so i guess i won't frog it after all.

the nice thing with the steam was that they blocks dried super fast! i'm sold on steam blocking and it will probably become my go-to method for all blocking now. living in hawaii where it's humid makes wet blocking a pain, since things take soooo long to dry. steam for the win!

now, back to knitting. i still have 6 from clue #3 and 2 from clue #4 left to knit. slow and steady progress - that's my mantra.

Slow and steady for me as well, finishing up last square of clue 4, then 6 more of clue 3 to go. Only one square blocked so far......I should check into that steam blocking. I feel like it is going to take me forever to get all of my squares blocked, oh well.... happy knitting everyone :knit: :knit: :inlove:

I have never blocked either, and was determined to do it all the right way for once. But, when I got my template all ready, I discovered to my dismay that all my blocks are too big....and I'm just finishing up my last one! When I did my gauge, I had to go down a size in needles to get it right. I just assumed since my gauge square was okay, and my knitting tension is pretty consistent, that my squares would be the right size.

So now I sure hope that when we get to the borders, we will be able to make them longer or wider, as needed, by adding extra rows. Twenty eight squares... probably laid out 7 long x 4 wide. 7 squares long and each square is about 3/4 of an inch too big, means about 5 inches longer and 4 squares wide means about 3 inches wider.

Not sure now how to block the squares.....Do I try to squish them as much as possible, or just make a new template that is 10.5 inches square, and block them to that size?......any suggestions???

I would think that if they were all blocked at the same size and everything else is adjusted accordingly, then it should look fine, just a bit bigger. :)
