Additional Waverly Colors

Postby crochet67 » Mon Mar 19, 2012 6:41 pm

I looked on the Bernat site possibly change my D color. I saw, to my surprise, that there are more Waverly colors than we see on the color palette. I really like several of them. I may have to do another afghan after this one!

I guess this comment/rant kind of goes along with the thread on the new Waverly colors. I love ALL of the Waverly color families but.......

I live in the DFW metroplex so you would think there would be lots of craft stores that would carry this yarn. On my way home from work, I pass a Michael's, Joann's and Hobby Lobby. Within 5 miles of my house there is another Joann's and Michaels. When I started looking for this yarn to choose my colors for the CAL, only one of the Michael's had any, and they only had a few colors on sale. I loved the texture, but not the available colors. I was told they would not be getting any more. Basically, I was left with the option of ordering online, or choosing something else. I finally went with another brand that I find on sale at the various stores on a rotating basis. I even checked with a yarn shop, but was told they did not carry "craft yarns." Maybe I just haven't found the ones that carry this yarn, yet, but I've called several and the answer is "no." This is a big area, and to drive all over can easily turn into a day trip! If anyone else lives in this area and was able to find Waverly, I would love it if you would let me know where.

I really wish that Bernat would market this yarn more aggresively to hobby and craft stores in this area. Of course, I know, it's all about shelf space, and these guys are going to push their own brands first. But I really wish this had been easier to find. :(

I found it at Zeller's where I live. It has never been in the Walmart's here. It is also at Michael's sparingly. But Zeller's and your Target are similar stores so try Target next. In fact, years ago Target used to use the same advertising Zeller's would use month's earlier, just changed the brand name. And Target has now bought out our Zeller's. So I am pretty certain they will carry it too. When I have been to an American Target I could swear I was in Zeller's, other than the red bulls eye they sell similar product - so no surprise when they bought Zeller's

I don't know how the mass market ordering of yarn is handled, so I can't help you there.

But, if you go to the Waverly yarn page, you can click "Buy in Store", then enter your location information to see which stores in your area should carry the Waverly yarn. Then, you can call the stores on the list, to see who has some in stock.

My husband was driving passed Paris so he decided to hit Mary Maxim to see if he could see the new Waverly colours in person. They had not heard of them yet! So he talked to their purchaser and they are now planning on ordering some.
I am still so darned anxious to see what the free patterns will look like and what the pattern books will include
This page:
http://www.bernat.com/product.php?LGC=waverly&SPP=999 still says 4 families.
I check that page often right now, hoping to catch the patterns when they first show up!

I certainly think so!!

I just found they have a seventh un-named family! Bringing the total colours of Waverly to 49. The un-named one looks more pastel, softer baby colours. But it totally includes another purple shade, this time Lavender! I wish they would make a family that includes 2 or three shades of purple at once. I hate mixing the families up!
I wish too that the price of this awesome yarn was less. Unless you find it on sale or clearance it seems just too expensive. Please Bernat! Put it on sale again! Or make the sale if you buy enough for a whole afghan you get a percent off. Since most afghans require 13 or more balls it could make it more economical for the average person and you would sell a chunk at once!

That is strange that the store workers hadn't heard of the yarn as I order it on line from them at the end of January.
