Knit-Along Clue 5 (Week 6)

I have a question. I have never done this before. What is the best way to start? Start with the middle blocks and work out? Top to bottom? Do each row or column, then, sew those together?

That's a real good question which I hadn't thought of yet, but would have wondered about when I begin to sew it together.

You can start anywhere you want! One suggested method is to see together strips from top to bottom, then sew all of those strips together.

okay - tried everything I could on my computer, but not being computer smart, I flunked. I'm really upset not to get these instructions after spending all that money on good yarn and it seems like now I have to "wing it". Not good. I did the CAL last year and this year I did both CAL/KAL. Hope the CAL works out better. Although I've enjoyed knitting and crocheting and reading all the comments I don't think I'll do this again - I don't have that kind of money to just throw away. I am really, really disappointed to say the least. flobee

For a newbie knitter, are there going to be any instructions on how to sew the squares together? I saw the link, but all it says is to sew the squares together. Aren't there different techniques used to stitch blocks together and each one gives you a different look? Which one to use to get the best look?

The video about how to the overcast stitch was helpful. I looked at Bernat's and KnitPurlHunter's demo and found them useful on how to put the blocks together. Bernat's link is on the first page of this clue, under skills-seaming motifs

For those who are still having trouble getting the PDF and aren't computer savvy. try this trick.
Turn your computer off.
off, not restart
count to ten slowly
turn computer back on
come back to this page and try again.
this is a neat easy way to clean up your computers memory without all that techno babble
This might not always work.

Try using the F5 key and holding the control (Ctrl on most keyboards) at the same time
if the above didn't work.
This is a hard refresh and super easy to do, I promise. My step-mom who is 70ish has trouble often can be talked through this too!

Can't open file - I have tried 4 or 5 times, the message says the file is damaged.

Is there another option for seaming the pieces rather than the overcast stitch? I would prefer another option. In watching the video example of the overcast seam, I'm not liking the look of that at all I guess I could always crochet them together.

Here is a great link showing how crochetting the squares would be done and how it would look. It's basically slip stitching along the squares. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zead-e6no4U
