Thanks!

The Bernat Waverly KAL/CAL 2012 Mystery Blanket calls for Bernat Waverly yarn, which is a medium (worsted or aran) weight yarn.

Just created this topic, so we can put all our general conversations about the overall KAL in one place.

I read information somewhere on the Bernat.com site about combining colors from the Waverly Beautiful Things palette with the Town & Country palette, with Antique being Contrst A. Now I can't find the information.

Can anyone help?

Not sure, but there's a great article about Waverly yarn on the Bernat site here: http://blog.bernat.com/2012/01/04/waver ... -tutorial/

And here is the Waverly for Bernat website: http://waverly.bernat.com/

Good Morning All! I have been concentrating on the CAL and am now going to start the KAL. I printed all the patterns and am slightly confused about the yarn requirements. I noticed that only one block uses contrast A but the list says you need 4 balls of A and 3 balls of B, C, and D, and 2 of E? Did I miss something or is there more to come? :idonno:

We'll be using A for the border.

I just wanted to take a few minutes and thank the Bernat folks for this Mystery KAL. It has been such a positive experience in so many ways.
I joined up as soon as I heard of it and had a dear friend join with me. We bought our yarn together and had a blast with that process. We anxiously were counting the days to Feb 15th. On Feb 7th our family pet (dog) passed away unexpectedly. I am sure you can all relate to the sadness and loss we felt. I was so sad, I didn't think I wanted to do the KAL . But I had purchased the yarn and my friend was ready to go so I started. It was a wonderful thing. Not only did it give me something else to focus on and look forward to each week, but it provided an opportunity for my friend and I to get together each week. Something we tend to forget in our busy lives. And then, 2 weeks ago, into our lives came a sweet rescue dog.
I have joked on the KAL about my afghan being ugly (it still is), but it is beautiful in a more important way. Every time I look at it I see the healing of grief, the power of friendship, the joy at learning new things and the beginning of new experiences. What powerful beauty that is. So my "Ugly Duckling" is really a swan and I will always treasure it and the experience.
Thank you.

What a wonderful post witknit! I'm so glad the KAL helped you through along with your faithful knitting friend. Several years ago we lost our 14 year old silky terrier. It was one of the hardest things I've ever experienced and I swore I would never get another dog because I couldn't bear to go through the sadness again. Well, now we have three dogs and couldn't imagine not having them in our lives. I'm so happy that your rescue dog came into your life. Thank you for sharing your story.

Oh my goodness! I have goosebumps and tears in my eyes. I've seen the "ugly afghan" posts and remember à posting about à rescue dog. I sincerely hope you'll post a photo of your afghan and your dog! Your afghan already has such à spécial story..... I'm sure it Will be memorable for years to come. And that is absolutely why hand made items are always preferable - because of the stories attached to them. That's how hierlooms are born!
