Star Blanket help

Postby cloudnine » Sat Mar 24, 2012 7:59 pm

I'm working on the star blanket pattern and am totally stuck on what to do after the last round in the instructions (round 7). The instructions say cont as established working 2 more dc before and after each (3 dc. ch 2. 3dc) corner. Does that mean that in the dc immediately before and after the corners I should add an extra 2 more dc (total of 4)? Wouldn't that mess up the patterning given that the first 7 rounds of the instructions don't call for that? Help! I'm usually pretty good at interpreting instructions, but don't want to add in those extra dc only to find out later that the pattern is messed up.

Thanks so much for any help you can provide :)

Haha I didn't realize how many there were on there. It's the very first one that you pictured, the "baby coordinates star blanket one".

Yeah, Bernat is good about providing lots of crochet options for star blanket lovers.

So, here's the link for your pattern: http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=5389

NOW, if anyone can help with that pattern, it's time for you to chime in!

Looks like those two extra dcs are added around each point when you are doing 3dc,ch2,3dc (sort of like big v stitch) in the point. Next round dc in the first 2 dcs of the big v stitch from the previous row, then make a big v stitch in the previous row's ch 2 sp, then dc in the 2 dcs that were the last stitches of the big v stitch from the previous row. Don't think you need to add any more stitches, they are added when you do the big v stitch.

Thank you!! That totally makes sense and is exactly what the previous rounds were doing, but when I read the "adding 2 dc before and after each corner" I got so confused. Thanks again :D
