Hey cindymattsmom, those colours are fab! But you'd better watch those loose ends as I'm sure the ever watchful Pearl is lurking about! :D

I prefer 2 with the pinwheel. I love the star and the pinwheel together more than the centre tipped square.
So if you were asking for opinions, that is mine.
I love your colours!
Since I am so far behind I am going to swap up my colours to fit more with the final design, as it is, some of mine are too jarring. Thank goodness sometimes for being behind!

I think there is quite a bit of merit in that choice. My son, who has taken art classes, prefers the contrast white of the Clue 2 squares in the middle rather than the corners, which goes along with Bernat's original design and occurs in this choice. What I like about the pinwheel is that you get some shading depth with the two darker colours of A and E. Not only do you have the initial pinwheel of your 4 Clue 4 squares, but there is an extended pinwheel with the darker shades going on from the center squares out into the surrounding squares. I like that depth factor. AND there is not too much busy-ness going on outwards from there on. I don't particularly care for the pinwheel and the arrow effect together in the officially proposed layout. Looking for balanced symmetry, which I believe occurs here. I'm trying to figure out in words what I like or don't like about all the possibilities, hoping it will help me narrow down to ONE choice. What I like about this project though is that there are so many possibilities to accomodate people's style preferences and colour choices.

I thank the bricks around my fireplace for the choice. I found the Bernat colour tutorial very helpful; I looked around my living room to identify what was there and in what proportions. Then I paid attention to the advice on the contrast shades vs the 3 mellower in between shades. Was a bit worried because I mixed colour families because of my existing bricks, but it's the contrast shading advice that pulled it together here. My bricks are actually a bit of a slate colour that is grey/blue/green, and I could have gone with the Greek Sea and Aqua Frost, but the browns of my couch and the other bricks were not as warm as the Greek Sea family and I needed to stick to Antique, which does not go well with the Greek Sea and Aqua Frost.

As far as being behind - yes, there are advantages! I was frustrated during week 3 and having to redo most of those squares. However, the time did pass and I did get over it, and am happier with my result. That is the important thing - you have to be happy with your result. Lots of time and yarn is already invested. My funny square 3s are not lost or wasted...I have the front of a coordinating pillow all ready to go!

I like your strong, bold colours. I think both designs work with your colours; however, keeping in mind that your border is going to be the lighter brown (am I correct?), the first option will allow the eye to see the same colour in the middle and around the edge. With option 2, it will be more lost into the edges of the border.

I love seeing everyone's pictures. :bravo: I decided to go along with Bernat's design and got it all pieced together.

:hellogoodbye: I love your colors! They look great together and your afghan is beautiful! I still need to sew mine together. I'm dragging my feet to do it because I'm not quite sure how I want to put the squares together, but I'm just going to have to go for a design and get it done!
