This looks really cool. Do you really need three or more needles to make this design?
What does FO stand for?

On my first try making the doily, 7" dpns would not accommodate the large number of sts per needle, as work progressed. It was very difficult for me to try to cram all those stitches on 7' needles--they kept falling off!So I located 10" dpns on a site called eknittingneedles.com 10" dpns are very hard to find, at least for me--I tried all the big craft stores' and even Mary Maxim websites. . .to no avail. I am happy to report that I had no problem making the project with my 10" dpns.

I usually stick with 4 dpns, and when it gets too large to hold on the dpns, I switch to a 16 in circular needle. No worries about the stitches coming loose then!
