Yipeeee ! I finished sewing everything together.I selected a different layout that worked best for my colours.
I gotta say though, this is one ugly afghan.... but, I had a lot of fun making it and have only myself to blame for the colour sequence selection so there you go. I am hoping the border might help :hrmm:

Best of all, it is a lovely warm blanket...it is unique and it's mine. :cloud9: Ugly or not I love it and it will get put to good use. I can probably make up a pretty good story to go along with it!

I really hope you do this again next year. I love a good mystery.

I am with you witknit....mine is also "one ugly afghan" and for the same reason... my color sequence was awful.
I decided to redo most of the squares and it is going much faster than I thought. Only have to redo 4 whole squares, the others I am undoing and knitting the second half in a different color or undoing where I joined the yarn and joining with peices of other clues.

I love your attitude....enjoy your afghan

I finally started sewing my squares together today. Wasn't too thrilled to do so, as I don't like sewing pieces together. But it needed done. I'm not crazy about the colors I have for my afghan either. I thought the colors looked good together when they were skeins, but as an afghan, let's just say it doesn't look the best. Oh well...live and learn. hehe I DO love the Waverly yarn though. Under other circumstances (like something planned and not a mystery) the yarn would look beautiful knitted into something. :crown: But, just like some others have said, it'll get lots of use and is wonderfully soft!! :cloud9: I enjoyed the mystery part of the KAL too! And reading all the comments on the forum. :)

:D Just finished sewing together my squares. All I can say about it is that it is done. Not liking the colors but couldn't figure out any other way to put them together. Don't have an artistic eye or color sense. Hoping the main color pulls everything together.

I like everyone's attitude!
I think the border will help make things come together better. :)

Have you posted a picture witnit? I picked unusual colours but I haven't finished knitting my squares yet. We can compare our finished blankets later and decide which is the ugliest

Shandeh wrote:If you want the seaming to be invisible, you can do the overcast stitch on the wrong side of the blanket, just seaming through half of each stitch. I've done this before, and it looks pretty good on the right side. The color of the yarn doesn't matter as much if you do that.

Your other option would be to do a mattress stitch on the right side, which really is invisible...but takes a bit more time and attention to complete. If you use that stitch, you can just choose the color from one of the squares if they are not matching.

Another option would be to do the overcast stitch on the right side, using the same color yarn throughout the entire blanket. This will add a design element, that makes all the squares cohesive.

Yikes!! Now how am I going to decide what to do??!!! :hrmm: :hrmm: :reading:

In my case I don't think anything short of a miracle would help  but I have it laid out on the spare bed and every time I pass it I think hmmmmmm, maybe not THAT bad. But yea, it is.... ;) I figure we will all use them and enjoy them (or give it away to an unsuspecting friend!)
