I wanted an afghan that was a bit heavier and less lacy .. so a random internet search for crochet octagons found me a small pot holder that I liked the look of and I just modified it a bit and then expanded it by adding 3 rows of my own to make it 11".

That's a bad picture of Birch White by the way ..looks very beige/pink in that photo.

:bravo: I like that pattern. It's so neat how some of you thought up using other patterns. :notworthy: I don't care much for the lacy stuff either, but I'm not creative enough to figure out what else to use.

Done!!! I finished my last motif. With that, I think I accomplished goal two of my joining this CAL. Goal 1 I can now read a chart and goal 2 I have broken my 'thing' about doing motifs. I have a whole tote bag full and didn't go running, screaming into the night even once :D Maybe now I can do the old Red Heart Gardenias afghan I have always wanted to do. But I think I need to finish my Desert Ripple/Open Fan afghan first.

:hellogoodbye: I'm doing the KAL and my afghan is complete except for the border so I thought I'd see how the CAL is coming along. I chose the same colors for my afghan. Your layout with the Town and Country colors is just gorgeous! :inlove: REALLY beautiful...keep up the good work! :)

I finished my Clue#6 last night. I would've been done sooner if it wasn't for all the frogging! The center flower I chained 10 instead of 11. Someone suggested it from the raverly group. I think it looks better! Plus the dc around at the end.

Leejoyce62 wrote:Finally all motifs finished. Thanks so much to all of you who worked out the bugs in clue 6. I did the dtr clusters w/ chain 5 for the centers and did the last round as charted because I could see the way it will curve, looking more like lace on the edge. Am using stash yarn instead of my beautiful Waverly yarn. My husband is home in hospice care and I am his 24 hr/day nurse. He has had cancer for 20 years, so many surgeries and treatments. Now it is inoperable and there is no chemo that slows it down. Some days I have alot of time to sit and crochet, others no time to even breathe. I have always made small blankets and donated them to hospitalized veterans through the volunteer services, probably 6 so far this year. So I will donate this afghan to some group because looking at it will remind me of the hardest times, with all the frustration, anger and pain. When he is at peace I will complete my afghan because I really love what I chose and I can stitch it with good thoughts and memories in mind. Do I sound crazy, or does anyone else understand what I mean? :( Just looked at my post and realized how I rambled about my problems. But I don't feel like hitting delete either. Sorry if I depress anyone and thanks for Listening/ reading???

I will keep you and your family in my prayers!
God Bless

No you do not sound crazy and yes it is okay to express your thoughts. We should all be thankful that we can be here talking to each other, crocheting, doing things we so love, and trying to enjoy ourselves with the wonderful things in life that we've been gifted with. Take care and bless you both in these trying times.

Thanks very much Marilyn, you are very kind. I'll hop over to the KAL to take a look. Did you post pics? My coworker is doing the KAL and is using more "springlike" colors. I would love to do the KAL too, but will wait until this is complete. Cheers Wisconsin neighbor!

Are we actually getting the final layout on Wednesday? That would be awesome! :D

I don't want to get too exited though - the KAL group had a week to block though, so I was kind of assuming that we would too...

I too am totally assuming we will have a catch up / block week then the following week we will get the official design! I am so excited! I expect we will also have a 'Blanket Possibility' thread for those who have finished this week.
ooh the anticipation! How oh how will these all go together! I can guess but I doubt I can figure it out officially!

OMG!!!! I totally forgot about the KAL week off  I hope we don't have to go through the torture  "ooh the anticipation" is right! YIKES! ;)
