Where do you live?

If you feel like talking about something that isn't knit- or crochet-related, feel free to do so here.

I lived in Wales for a year in LLANFAIRPG. I married a Brit and My father-in-law's family still lives in Powys, Wales. Where originally are you from?

I live in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. A small city with only one dedicated yarn shop, but we do have 2 Walmarts, 2 Safeways, and a Micheal's. We DO have a major university and a college. The college is why I am here, it is the only school on the Canadian prairies, that offers the design program that I am taking. Between working one full time job, one part time job and going to college, I never seem to be able to get to the shops so I do most of my shopping on line, it is just easier that way.
It is nice to hear all the familiar towns mentioned. I was an Over the Road truck driver for 33 years and traveled continental USA, Alaska and Canada. The only state I haven't been to is Vermont and the only provinces and territories I haven't been to in Canada are Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
Yes there are days that I miss "looking at the world through a windshield", but mostly I am glad to be home every day rather than waking up in a different city every morning. I am getting antsy for a "road trip" but am thinking more in terms of a motor home.

Hi!!! I'm Lacey. I live in a small town that's technically not a town anymore...Hammonsville, Kentucky, USA. It's kind of funny living here....we have an Upton, KY mailing address, a Bonnieville, KY phone number, and if we have a fire we have to call the Magnolia, KY fire department. For those of you somewhat familiar with the Kentucky Derby that 's held in Louisville every year, I live about an hour south of there! It's a relatively quiet place to live...lots of farms around the area.

I don't know what to answer to "Where are you from"? But I have LIVED in:
Fort Wayne, Indiana (3 years)
Brownsburg, Indiana (6 years)
Wausau, Wisconsin (9 years)
Waverly, Iowa (4 years)
Littleton, Colorado (3 months)
Bingham, Maine (2 years, and where I learned to knit!)
Québec City, Québec (12 years, and where my children were born)
Strasbourg, France (1 year)
Paris, France (1 year)
Gatineau, Québec (10 years)
Oh, and forgot Coventry, England, where I met my dear hubby in the first place!

The advantage of having lived in many places makes it easier to get to know people. The disadvantage is that there is no one place "to go home to". My hubby is from our current area and we made the decision to return close to his family, and our kids have grown up with their cousins, something I did not get to do myself. We are in year 11 here and soon will make the record for the longest anywhere! What I love about living in the National Capital Region in Canada and part of the Commonwealth is the easy access to 2 languages (English/French) and 4 cultures (French, English, Canadian and American). We never lack for good food or fun entertainment or media in any language!
