I hope to get things done this week so I can catch up! Warmer weather and too many things to do outside, plus Momma Cat had 7 kittens and are they ever so cute! I have to ride husband's motorcycle to the shop for some work tomorrow! I guess I could take the crocheting along and do it there! Wouldn't that be a hoot!!! Pack the bag full of yarn and sit out on the bench and crochet!! Think I will try that, just to get some caught up! Looking forward to the next clue!! :reading:

Crocheting outside a motorcycle shop, too cool. I have a picture in my head of you on the cycle with backpack on, yarn trailing out & flying in the wind......it made me smile. Anyway enjoy your time crocheting wherever that may be

Oh yes!!! Bike had to be left for more work and I got two more squares done. Had the owner of the shop come out and take a photo of me crocheting outside on the bench in the sunlight! What a beautiful day we had! Now to ride my bike to the shop tomorrow and get the throttle cable fixed. No way to crochet then, different shop. But, I will get done! Yes, I could crochet on the back of the bike when I ride with hubby, but he would get upset that I wasn't paying attention! :hellogoodbye:

He likes to explain how it all works, I just like making "pretty stuff" with yarn and a hook!!

 My husband does that too! He's a welder but we (me and the kids) poke fun at him for his insane knowledge of numbers. We call him the human calculator! He'll explain measurements to me in great detail :hrmm:
I too just like to make pretty things! Although, I won't admit to him that I've been using some of his advice on a project I'm putting together for an afghan for my son using my graph paper.

Ya, I decided against giving this Mystery CAL afghan to him. It's just too feminine. So, I'm making him a Green Lantern one instead.

Finished both clue 5 and 6 this week, ready for the next step. Layed the blocks out with my daughters the other day before I had them all done, and am very exited to see where they really belong!! :bravo: :bravo:

Finished clue 6 tonight. Looking forward to see what tomorrow brings.

I keep saying I'll post pictures, but haven't yet. :-) It's one more thing to do while trying to finish up. And there's the resizing, so I applaud all of you who have already posted photos. They're all so lovely and I love looking through them.

Ok, I give up. This is my first crochet project and I was fine up to Clue 6. No matter how hard I try, I cannot for the life of me get this clue right. The center bunches up like a cone, One was too big and another too small. I am thinking of doing Clue 2 again using the correct colors for Clue 6. Will this still work with the overall look of the afghan, I would hate to give up the whole project, just because of this Clue, and I know that with my record of finishing other projects (I have a lot of quilting and knitting UFOs) that I would just put this away and forget about it. I am determined to end up with a finished project. What do you think about using Clue 2 again?

I have been crocheting for over 40 years and I had to frog this one several times. I also found out that if I did not pay attention to what I was doing, I had to rip back the row LOTS of times. If you keep working on it and get it, you will get a huge feeling of success!!! The actual crochet skills are not that difficult--it is following the directions that is the bugger. I used the written instruction, the chart, and the suggestions from several of the other members on what they did. That being said, this is supposed to be a fun activity and not something stressful and if you feel it is going to stress you, use a different pattern for this clue--several people have posted alternate photos and they usually share what they did--the overall afghan will probably be more interesting if you do not repeat a motif that we have already done. You might also check out octogon patterns on Ravelry. Good luck with this and be happy!

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I will try again with the Clue or find another pattern on the internet. I do confess that I am having a harder and harder time concentrating. I work nights and I bring my crocheting with me. I really need to try this Clue again at home in a quiet room and see if I can get it then. I will also read the other posts about what some of the other members did to make it easier. Thanks again.

ok, you've officially "hurt my head" tesselate  I could probably ask my son who is a mini-math genius, but I don't like to point out too many times that he is way smarter than me when it comes to math
