I know people are disappointed, but THANK YOU for a catch up week.

I'm feeling swamped and behind and everything else, so this will be a life-saver. Might even find time to block - which is something I've never done.

Why not check out our mini crochet-a-longs like the mermaid tears purse viewtopic.php?f=253&t=1983
or the crocheted doily pillow!

I've been having so much fun trying new things and posting pictures :knit: :cloud9:

I really appreciate the week to catch-up. I was unable to complete last week's motifs because we left on vacation for Hilton Head and not returning until this coming weekend. I also was struggling with Clue 4 and have a couple more of those to do. So thank you for the extra time.

I have learned to read a chart, learned more skills not just the basics and have had a great time seeing everyone's work and reading their stories. Certainly needed this week for some catch up and blocking. I certainly understand the disappointed ones, but all in good time right? Have a great week everyone!!

Definately one of the perks for me has been learning! But I do it for the mystery, intrigue and joy of checking out all the posted pictures with different variations of the same pattern! Love it!

I have a question which I hope is not as stupid as I think in my own head. I understand why you think it is important to block, so that it stays in it's shape. My question is what happens in the future if you need to wash the blanket? Do you have to reblock or is it once you block it is done? I have never blocked and don't know if I want to take the time to do it nor do I have the equipment to do it. I don't even know what equipment I would need.

How many of each motif would be needed to make a cushion cover to match the afghan?

I think that depends on the size of the cushion.

....."If you're done your motifs, this week take time to block (we promise it's worth it!) and come up with your own ideas for motif arrangements, which you can share on the Blanket Possibilities post. Since a lot of members aren't considering blocking, I thought I'd explain why it's wise to block your motifs. The CAL motifs involve a lot of open, almost lacy, spaces, but they show up best when the fabric has blocked because it allows everything to lay uniformly flat, and many of the stitches to open up to their full potential. Check out the Ravelry discussion on the befores and afters of blocking to see how amazingly blocking can help a project.

Thanks Kaleigh, the Ravelry site gave excellent info & now I'm off to block!

I couldn't get the Ravelry link to work.....and am reluctant to join yet another on line thing. I'll ask some of my needle/hook buddies at our weekly Wednesday night s-n-b if I can look under their account.

The Ravelry discussion mentions soaking in Eucalan Grapefruit. I looked at Eucalan site, the rinseless soap/laundry liquid also comes in lavender. Nice site, product looks nice too.
