Shandeh posted her star afghan that she blocked after it was finished but I don't remember what thread it was--really unique method of blocking.

I'm pretty sure pinned that to her wall to block it.

That was it but I still don't remember what thread it was.

I'm with you there. I found out about the CAL on facebook when I was doing a random search of yarn companies. This is the largest project I have ever made, and it has inspired me to move beyond the scarves and hats I'm used to making. I'm even trying to teach myself how to knit so I can make more stuff :knit: (But I think I'll stick to knit scarves until my tension evens out.)

So glad you both found us! We're having a blast!

Darn, all caught up - so I guess I'll try figuring how this is to come together.

I am happy it is a catch up week! Didn't think I would need one. But I have only done 3 of week 5, haven't started week 6! I will be all caught up this weekend because my DH has the flu and we had to cancel our trip to Germany. I'm really bummed, but at least I have my yarn & hooks to console me.

My question is what happens in the future if you need to wash the blanket? Do you have to reblock or is it once you block it is done? I have never blocked and don't know if I want to take the time to do it nor do I have the equipment to do it. I don't even know what equipment I would need.

The seaming will help to hold the motifs into shape after washing and drying.

Here's where I started talking about blocking that big star blanket. :)

You could always take a picture of each motif and include it with the main "Mystery Crochet Along" information page and wrap it in a pretty box. Let them know you have a few more mystery weeks to go before they can have their beauty!

Sorry you are frustrated. Bernat has had a layout designed for this blanket long before the CAL even started.

The Knit-Along group DID have a break a couple weeks ago (Week5). They used that week to finish squares, block them, and talk about possible layouts. In week 6, when Bernat released the official layout design for the KAL, some people followed it exactly, while others decided to use some of the ideas our forum members suggested.

It's really a fun way to do the mystery blankets. I'm looking forward to seeing what the crocheters will come up with for layout options!

If you'd like, you can join us in the smaller Crochet-Alongs and Knit-Alongs in another part of the forum!

We are making dishcloths, doily pillows, mermaid purses, and bunnies!

And someone has also started a CAL for the Bernat 2010 Mystery Blanket.
