Crochet-Along Week 7: Blanket Possibilities

Started laying out my motifs and discovered that I made two too many of Clue #3 in my main color and not enough in my color C - Antique.....oops!!! The two pictures below are of my silly kitty, Callie, "helping" with the layout. She loves to "help" me with my crochet projects.

Don't you just love having a helper??? Does she have a favorite color?

Dcrozier, She loves all the colors! I can always tell when I am working on a good project....when she is in my lap as soon as I start working on the project.

My kitty, Silver, hates yarn and afghans. Whenever I start moving afghans around or start crocheting something she will get up and leave the room. If I put her on an afghan or yarn item, she will bolt off of it and leave the area. She won't even play with a piece of yarn. I adopted her from the humane society so am wondering if they captured her with an afghan as she was a rescue cat along with 25 other cats. All I know is she doesn't like yarn.
She is a good mouser as I found out 3 weeks ago, when I had a field mouse in the house. She was a good kitty and I praised her well for doing her duty. Just have to keep her away from my gerbils....lol

I know I've seen it a million times, but can't find it right now when I want to know. Hee hee! Doesn't it usually work out that way? Anyone know the measurements of the completed afghan?

I love all of the possibilities everyone's sharing and the color combinations. So pretty! Thanks for the photos guys.

KAL: Approx 45" x 59" [114.5 x 150 cm].
CAL: Approx 46½" x 62" [118 x 152.5 cm].

Now I am sitting here wondering how 24 11" motifs can work out to those dimensions. Four across will make 44" so I can see that. But I cannot figure out how 6 11" motifs would equal 62" because it should equal 66" and then a border would make it bigger.

Look at the layouts already uploaded here - They are all 3x4 with both octagons and squares.
So - 4 octagons across is 44", plus 4 squares across which is 18" = 62"
and 3 octagons (33") plus 3 square (13.5") = 46.5"

Exactly to size, than. But what does that say about the border...?

Wow, I have super organised my blocks and colors ect BUT I have not tried to even think what it will look like in the end!! I love surprises!! One thing I'd like to say is My Mom is in a nursing home, recently admitted and her outlook is not good BUT this mystery afghan has had her and some of my family asking every week, what motif am I working on now?? I have put all of my blocks in ziploc bags and take them up each week and we take them out and look at them and Mom thinks this is so much fun, watching the amount of blocks grow and the different ones. We are having such a good time with this, so thank you very much for giving us something else to think about and do during this very difficult time.

Well, I've known about the Bernat designs for a LONG time, and I can vouch that they never changed.

With the frustration that you have read here, you are not afraid to say that YOU KNOW THE SOLUTION !!!! Beware !!!

I love YARN!!!!
But, I also love working for Bernat, so my lips are sealed.

When I was 10, I slept in the same room as my 2 young sisters (3 and 7 years old), and after mom has turned out the light, I used to say softly : "oh, you know what, I have a good idea for tomorrow !" and my sisters yelled, and mom came back and scolded me .... and it was the same scenario every night, until I had my own room, in dad's office (he was professor at the university, and worked at home in a special room, large room, with a lot of books everywhere .....) and I could read all night, and switch off the light when I wanted !!! Thanks, Shandeh, you remind me this anecdote !!!
