I found it at Michael's too. They had it in all in one yarn basket/tray. You know how they usually have one tray per colour? Well this one was mixed up in just one with a dozen or more colours and was no where near the regular Handicrafter cotton. It was sort of tucked away.

I love the purple I found, and to keep things simple, it is actually named Purple! It has a very rough texture, which I am sure will make a perfect working dishcloth. I am currently trying hard to knit my squares for the KAL so unless I need a crochet break I won't be able to test out this yarn yet.

Thank you for bringing this new yarn to my attention, feel sort of foolish for jumping in earlier when I did not know what I was talking about.\

Flower pattern using Scrubby for middle

Postby karenarp » Mon Feb 27, 2012 9:57 am

I am looking for a written pattern I saw at Michael's the other day. They had the sample but no leaflet!
It was a flower, crocheted, the centre was made using the new Handicrafter Scrubby yarn and the rest was made using regular Handicrafter Cotton. This was such an awesome idea on how to use the new Scrubby yarn. I was so disappointed and surprised they did not have a leaflet!
I have looked on Bernat and so far they don't even list Scrubby as something they carry, so they don't even have the pattern yet.

I saw that on display at Micheals too. I did look quickly for a pattern and didn't find one either. Next time I go in I'll check. I made a dishcloth once using a plastic bought scrubbie in the middle. I also know people who buy netting from the fabric store, cut it into strips and crochet two circles together to make a scrubbie. This is great for cleaning the bathtub. I did like the daisy yellow and white one on display at Micheals though. (yeah!!!! time for clue three!) :crown:

I am still trolling my local Michael's and Hobby Lobby for this yarn without success. I am dying to try it out. Will this yarn be sold in the online store? If it will be, is there a projected date?

When I was at the Listowell store last week I noticed they had Scrubby yarn there, but it was under the Sugar & Cream label, not Bernat Handicrafter.
It was in an identical package, with the Brand name changed

I found some Scrubby at Micheal's here in Lethbridge today. I bought one skein of each color they had. It was pricey, but then so is the Handcrafter. They had a really cute "sample" hanging on the rack beside it, but they didn't have the pattern available. The "sample" was daisy type white flower made of Handcrafter with a yellow Scrubby center. It was really cute and would make great gifts. I hope that pattern is on the Bernat pattern site.

So jealous. I am still dreaming of this yarn. From what I have read in other posts, it seems to be only available in Canada. I hold out hope that it will eventually be available on the website.

If you go on the Michael's website you can find that pattern under "Daisy Dishcloth". I saw that there too. I think I need to make some of those.

I was reading about the Scrubby last night, and it got my interest. I downloaded the pattern, and decided I would like to make it. I live 30 miles east of Los Angeles, CA. I went to my local Michael's, and after some searching, I found the "Scrubby". It was on an end-cap, colors mixed together in two bins at floor level. It is almost like they didn't want us to see them. There was: white, sage green, brown, yellow, pink and purple. Being optimistic that I will like this, and hopefully others as well, I bought all colors, except for the green!!! And then I bought 2 colors, plus white, in the original Sugar'n Cream. Our store didn't have a sample of what you could do with the Scrubby. So, if you are interested, look hard in your Michael's store and you might find it. Good Luck! :hellogoodbye:
