Knit-Along Clue 6 (Week 7)

Once I figure out which is the "outside" edge, I intend to pick up stitches along the inside edge (like entrelac - slip the last stich of the edging, pick up and knit a stitch from the afghan, pass the slipped stitch over). I HATE seaming - haven't put mine together yet for that reason. Currently working on 10 stitch afghan that picks up as you go so NO SEAMING!

I think I might try the same thing, so my sides can match evenly with the squares.

Glad to hear that I am not the only one behind I have 5 1/2 of clue 3 to do, I am a bit worried how mine will look asn I am useing butter for my main color ,b incense, c turtle green, c colonial beige,d porcelain red It looks like most of the blankets i haveseen have a darker color for the border.I can't wait to put it together and see the complete look.

I wouldn't worry about your lighter color being your main color. I think it will be very pretty that way!!!

Me too, because by the time I get to this point I want to get it done and not do more seaming.
Plus I think the border will lay flatter this way too. Thanks for giving me the steps above, I haven't tried entrelac in years.

Question as this is the first I heard of 'entrelac'. When you turn it to knit back to outer edge would you pick up your stitch along the edge, knit first stitch on needle and than slip the pick up stitch over it?

Thanks all for the encouragement! Good questions here about what to do if yr ur blocks are larger. I hadn't thought of that and my squares are 10x10. Will there be enough stretch or should I continue in pattern?

Is there any way of knitting this and adding it on the edge at the same time? I am sure there is a method to doing this that is similar to doing an entrelac. I am afraid I would get so board knitting 14 stiches back and forth for 57-60". Then have to sew it on.

But I do agree with one of the previous posts that said yeah to the lace pattern I am so done with shaker stiches.

This will be difficult to do. Most of the squares are knit on the diagonal, so there will not be a row to row correspondence. I know sewing is not the most fun of a knitting project, but sewing will be much better than trying to use the method mentioned here. I have done this on other projects where stitches were picked up along a diagonal and then knit straight. You always need to pickup more stitches than rows present themselves, and directions are given as to the number of stitches to pick up. We do not have this information for these borders.

The borders look great. Glad to see what they are, because I am enlarging my afghan by knitting extra squares for the length. Now I know I can knit extra border pieces and interpolate them in the afghan. I had thought about it, but needed to know what the borders would look like to know if that would work.

Still have to finish blocking the squares before I can sew them together.

I've started my border and think it is correct. I had one square that came out to 10 inches, so I made them
all that way...my project will be rather big. I'll just match up the border as best I can. Overall, I am very
pleased with my afghan and am happy with my colors, although I might have tweaked one color a bit.
I've enjoyed the event, what a great project.
