I know we keep saying 15 weeks, but does anyone know where that is posted? According to the main CAL/KAL page, it goes through April. That is closer to 10 or so (which makes more sense than 15 considering we only have to piece together and do a border).

I seem to recall from reading posts that we have one more motif to go. Maybe we don't, but I think I remember reading that. Maybe Shandeh, can clarify. I think it was she or Jen who may have said that about one more motif.

We did state at the beginning there would be 15 weeks total for the event, but that includes several weeks after the blanket is officially 'finished' when we'll be showing off our finished work and maybe even having a few contests. :D I've been tempted to keep it a mystery but i can tell you're all dying to know - we're officially done with the motifs now, and we'll be following this up with seaming and the border.

OH! So THAT's how it's 15 weeks! The world makes sense again!
I've been trying to figure out that 15 weeks thing for weeks.

So, I finally got home for the weekend, took all the blocks out to try for a layout, and all I got was the conclusion that my room is way to small for this afghan

Seriously, this afghan has the weirdest configuration.

Seriously, this afghan has the weirdest configuration.

The configuration has to be:
3 octagons plus 3 squares wide
11"x3 + 4.5"x3 = 33"+13.5" = 46.5"
4 octagons plus four squares long
11"x4 + 4.5"x4 = 44"+18" = 62"
This now equals the official size given:
CAL: Approx 46½" x 62" {118 x 152.5 cm}.
It is the arrangement of the motifs themselves that will remain a mystery for now.
I also believe we cannot have much room for a border, plus I don't have that much yarn left over, unless we do a striped / random colour border, since I have a bit each colour left. So the border can't be much more than a single crochet or half double around?

I thought about it, and it's actually not really to measurement... Because it's not a rectangle. One row of 3 octagons and 3 squares is exactly 46.5", but the rows aren't lined up - The second row ends 4.5" to the side of the first row.

But anyway, even if it is the configuration (and it really has to be... what else could there be?), It's a weird configuration to build with the spread of different blocks we have.

Maybe it isn't an exact rectangle but still thinking. Might try with the computer because I used Bernat Super Saver instead of the Waverly so I don't want to post pictures. It is the three single color B C and D throwing me off. Yikes. Love a puzzle though.

oh no! I knew that too! I kept thinking there was something off, but really, it does sort of work for the measurements, so what other shape could it be? Here is was so certain! Dang that edge hanging over! Maybe we need to cut it off ;) :P Joking! joking! no cutting off edges!
Now I am even more mystified by this! My brain can't take this uncertainty!

It is possible my brain just isn't processing this correctly, but doesn't your plan there just allow for 12 octagons? And we have 24?

The only thing I've come up with so far ended up square. I was shooting for oval, but oh well (octagons in rows of 2-4-6-6-4-2 and then squares in the corners between them). Darn it. LOL

Here's what I came up with, but I know it can't be it because I have a small motif leftover. So for what it's worth, here's my wrong guess. But I like the way it looks. :-)

I meant to mention that I haven't blocked them yet.

I bought some T-pins today and wow are they expensive. 40 for $4.79. So I only bought two packages. One at 40% off coupon at JoAnnes.

I also noticed while puzzling around with my motifs, that one or two were two small. So I'll need to frog and crochet a little looser. Glad to have this week to do this kind of stuff!!! :-)
