Question, since no seam stitch is mentioned related to week 7, does this clue entail just the knitting of the border and the seaming will come later?

At the very end of the instructions it says to "sew the side edgings in position".

Sounds very creative! I made a cover for my bed out of squares and had to make a lot more than called for so it would be wide enough. After all, years ago there were no patterns so the prairie girls just kept knitting until it was the correct size. Go for it!

:( I started the left edging and like the look of it. It isn't that hard to do. I am just having a tough time motivating myself to finish. Any suggestions to get me going again? :(

Instead of sitting and knitting for long periods of time, work in small sessions, rewarding yourself with a cup of your favorite beverage, or taking a walk outside, or playing a game on your computer. Also, it helps me get more done on my knitting if I listen to my favorite music, or watch a fun movie.

I carry mine around with me for when I am in a situation where I have to wait. or if I have a break in my day. Knitting is a good way to unwind in the middle of a hectic day too. I have neen motivated by continuing to keep going by reminding myself that this is not a race, and to enjoy the process. :)

I like the philosophy of this method: go as far as you need to go! Nothing is better than custom made because the fit is adjusted to the exact measurements.

I do some of the previously mentioned tactics. What has helped me the most, though, for something rather long and repetitive (like those Clue 3 squares......they still traumatise me!) has been to take a few days off and do something completely different, and to spend more time on the forum. Just reading that other people are having the same difficulty, seeing photos of others' work, etc. keeps me motivated to keep going. This will be the first time that I will have completed such a lengthy project in such a short time!

Oh, and here's another idea: break up the task into smaller more easily reachable goals that you will REWARD yourself for accomplishing. If you're knitting a border to go up the length of 6 squares, set yourself a realistic pace...today I'm going to go up as far as the top of one square (or two). And then stop and REWARD yourself! You can't help but keep moving forward, and soon you'll be far along enough that it won't be such an impasse for you because you'll have more finished than not finished and yet to go.

This is the fastest I've finished a large knitting project too, but well worth it. I think it is the anticipation of what it will look like that keeps me interested. I know what you mean about motivation though - it once took me three years to finish a very complicated cable knit sweater. Very proud of that sweater though and I still have it (it's 40 years old).
