So what do you think? Does the difference between the two square directions make an obvious difference in your opinion? Let us know what you come up with or which method you are going to use. I haven't gotten to my seeming yet so I'm going to look around a bit. Your photos look great to me!

Yeah, it was harder for me and there is still a line anyway where the stitches change direction. And since I had already done the entire middle square of the afghan (16 squares) in the invisible matress thing before I read about the seamless garter method, when I got to my edges and last 8 squares I had to stay consistent. You can see a definite line at the join of all the blocks, but I like that for this project since it so much resembles a quilt. I have a pattern for a neat sweater in garter stitch though that I would like to use that method with.

I am not sure if I like my seaming. I think I sewed too loosely at first. But I will continue. I'm using the overhand stitch (where you put two right sides together ) method. I love love :inlove: that I am making :cloud9: a warm knitted blanket though!!!!
