Toothpicks might work, if the surface underneath will work with them.

Stainless steel pins in the shape of the letter "T" were recommended to me for blocking, but I am having trouble finding them.

You might find the T-pins in the quilting department of your local craft store.
Another option is the Flower head pins. The main thing you need is for the head of the pin to be large enough that it doesn't go completely through the knitted fabric.

(But, I've used basic sewing pins without a problem.)

Yeah, or a fabric store.... I just used straight sewing pins, without the plastic heads on them, and they work just fine. You could also use the pin part of a safety pin.... It's more about holding the knitting in place in a straight line than actually sewing it. Just thought of something else - how about push pins for bulletin boards? Anything poky will do.

Like, like, like these pins. :inlove: Need some fun pins! Need some cute knitting markers! Tired of practical and basic! Always concentrating on the project and not having maximum fun with the process!

Finally got the second half of the squares blocked and started on the border while waiting for them to dry. Hope to start putting them together tomorrow.

Thought I was finished sewing my squares together. I was so proud! Then I stretched the blanket out for my husband to see and realized that one of my Clue 2 squares was wrong side up! Oh well, at least it's on the outside edge.... At least I hadn't sewn on the border! I little ripping and sewing and I'm back in business. Ha!

So I'm blocking while finishing up a few leftover squares and I feel like I'm doing it wrong - any suggestions?

I pinned the squares onto my mat, using the printed pattern. Then I took a wet towel, put it over the square. Do I just wait for it to dry? I ask because it's been a week...and towels are still wet...do I need to have wrung them out better?

The only other blocking I've seen is wet blocking - which would involve soaking the squares, and then pinning it...that wouldn't work well with the template though I fear...help! :idonno:

:hellogoodbye: I have blocked in the past using a damp linen towel lying on the fabric and then I use my steam iron a couple inches above the towel. After steaming, I take the damp towel off and let the knitted fabric dry completely before unpinning. You could also just pin your squares, dampen them with a spray bottle, and then hold the steam iron above them, just like in the other way, and then let the squares dry completely before unpinning. Hope this helps!
