Today I hate knitting - a place to vent your frustrations!

Postby MzMolly » Sun Feb 12, 2012 2:30 am

After several weeks of working intermittently on a sweater, I've discovered I won't have enough yarn to finish it.

My local yarn supplier doesn't have any more of the same dye lot or even the same yarn. I would have to order more over the internet and can't even hope to get the same dye lot.

This is not the first time this has happened to me. Somehow my calculations never work.

I'm also frustrated because I just finished a sweater and after I spent hours doing test swatches to make sure I had the gauge correct .. the sweater is TOO BIG! ...

Anyway, I needed to vent because I just finished pulling out ALL my work. Now I'm going to see if I can find enough yarn to complete the sweater and start all over again. :tears:

I'm sorry too! I've had it happen too, when you are following gauge and the project turns out too big! Had that happen with a sweater for my dog (not a Bernat pattern)--and once on a pair of mittens. They both are a little big, but still wearable.
I had a totally frustrating time last week trying to knit a VERY simple scarf (cast on 22 st, work in stockinette stitch) using eyelash yarn. I dropped stitches, added stitches--ARRGGH! I am I guess what you would call an "early-intermediate" knitter and this made me feel pretty inept. Frogging was impossible, due to the nature of the yarn.
Finally I gave up and abandoned the good ship Eyelash Scarf. :ire: I just moved on and focused on my strengths  and counseled myself by admitting I really don't need a hairy, furry scarf; and also really did not care for the color choice I had made anyhoo. We all get bad knitting days every so often. I guess they are just teachable moments.
Keep on :knit:

I was knitting clue two and it looked like it had measured correctly. I had already done one square and was working on the second one; I also had counted the stitches and both had the same amount. I bound off and cut the yarn only to see that it is shorter than the original one. So, now I have to pull out the last row and add in more yarn! UGH! I usually keep everything attached and then when I'm done I measure again so if there are any mistakes I can just go back and fix it. Alas, I had to cut this stupid yarn and do it differently and now I could just pull my hair out  I am so mad at myself :!: :!: :!: :!:

aggggg  ....the other night I knocked over my wine glass with my knitting needles when i laid down my KAL square. Had to wash out the square, glad it was white wine. Then when I picked it back up noticed in the rush to clean up I hadn't marked where I'd stopped  , so knit the wrong row and messed it up worse trying to take out what I had just knit  . Had to start it all over, which I have now done 3 times :rainy: . But I am trying to keep at it and learn how to knit better

You sound like a knitter after my own heart!
Yeah, I guess if you're gonna waste good wine, I suppose knitting is one of the better ways to do it. :knit: Sorry about your KAL square. :( I look at any knitting mishap as a learning moment--and also that the 2nd (or 3rd, etc etc) try will produce an even better result than previous. :|
Cheers! :D ~~mm
