Have started to knit the borders and think the pattern is very pretty.
I was expecting something quite different so it was a lovely surprise to see such a nice pattern for the border.
Am a little slow getting the border done as I am now knitting a winter jersey for my Husband.

I have one border done, ready to start the second. I really like the pattern and it was easy to remember. Could not figure out how to use the chart.

If you hold up your knitting, and compare it to the chart, you will see that the stitches look just as they do on the chart. Here's a basic chart-reading tutorial: http://www.smart-knit-crocheting.com/kn ... harts.html

Also, Crystal with Bernat made a great video on how to read knitting charts.

Nearly through with one side, my squares were a little bigger than 9.5 and I need to know if the border
is to go to the top of the piece and match what is already there. I'm thinking the top and bottom will cover
all of the top, including the side pieces.

P.S. Please let this be the case so I can start on the other side

left and right edging done and look very nice. I can't wait to seam everything. Oh yes! I mean everything, the squares are lying on my desk and I can almost hear them tell me: What are you waiting for???

Those Clue #3 squares were frustrating. Blocking them twice was no help either. I just "went with it" and admitted that perfection is overrated. Good luck with your re-knitting.

The result is quite satisfying and looks lovely on my diningroom table. I am well into knitting the first side edge and am wondering if there are going to be top and bottom edges, too. :knit:

Of course I don't know for sure, but I'm figuring that we will have bottom and top borders to do eventually. My guess is that we'll pick up stitches on the bottom edge to knit the bottom border and likewise with the top border. But like I said, it's just a guess. What do you all think? :knit: :cloud9:

I just hope it isn't seed stitch! I really, really hate doing that one....these edgings are driving me nuts because of seed stitching  It looks great but grrrrrrr........not my favourite to knit.
:rainy:

Seed stitch is slow going, but it looks nice when it is done. It would make sense to have the top and bottom borders be seed stitch to go with the edges. For your sake, I hope it is not. The side edges are slow going for me because I am trying to rest my wrist and avoid tendonitis from the repetitive motions and small diameter of the needle used to attach the squares. Good luck and take it easy. This is not a race.

Did anyone use a row counter on the border? can someone tell me approximate numbers of rows. I am really bad at judging by looks so I end up spending way too much time stopping to measure.

I ended up doing 25 repeats (for a total of 351 rows?) and it ended up about 58" long. My blanket is 59" long. The left border went on just fine with a bit of slight stretching. Each person's knitting is different so measuring is still your best bet, but maybe that will give you a general idea.
