Anyone use corrected Clue #3?

Postby knitrik » Fri Mar 30, 2012 7:06 am

Has anyone used the new and corrected Clue 3? I am debating it because I have 2 of that clue already done and hate to frog what I already did. However, I really don't love how my first two squares came out (which is probably why i abandoned it and moved on to Clue 4!), so I am curious if anyone has any better luck with the corrected Clue 3??????

I did! I started the KAL a little late so I never got to the first version of clue 3. I have two done so far of the corrected clue 3 and they look good to me! They are square and exactly the same size as my clue#1's.

Great! And you didn't need to change your needle size from what you used for clues 1 and 2?

I have a couple done in the original and they look the same. I have them blocked side by side. The diff. really was in the sizing. I ended up redoi g the originals Ina smaller needle. Then I put down clue three due to frustration. I have picked it back up and with correction in place am knitting the remainder up quite quickly. I do not think you will have a problem if you knit with the corrected pattern.

I love love love the pattern that color C creates here. Is there anyway to make it stand out just a bit more? Would love to use it in another pattern for sure!!

In my experience, lighter colors show textured stitching best.

My original clue 3 squares measured 10.5 in. so I didn't think blocking would make enough difference. I decided to try the corrected version but it was to small. Rather that ending with the 47 stitches and increasing 6 for the second color, mine ended with 49 stitches and then I just had to increase 4 stitches with the second color. It ended up being a perfect 9.5 inch square. I think it is just going to depend on how your gauge is but you will probably be close and do some minor adjusting like I did. Good luck.

I used the original pattern for clue three. All my squares are the same size and I blocked them at 10 1/2 inches  but my blanket will just be that much bigger. :P oh yeah! I blocked them!! yippeee! this is a first for me. I did it with a tea towel, an iron, a knee pad for gardening from the dollar store and pins. :crown: I am so proud and they look terrific.

Mine were coming out too big also. So what I did was after I cast on the one stitch and did the k, p, k. Then I k3 and then proceeded with the increase row. (I didn't do the k1 p1 k1 row). I went to 55 stitches like the others and my squares are as close to 9 1/2" as it can get. And the triangles are even. Good luck. :)
