Thank you.

Oh my goodness! I have goosebumps and tears in my eyes. I've seen the "ugly afghan" posts and remember à posting about à rescue dog. I sincerely hope you'll post a photo of your afghan and your dog! Your afghan already has such à spécial story..... I'm sure it Will be memorable for years to come. And that is absolutely why hand made items are always preferable - because of the stories attached to them. That's how hierlooms are born!

I wish you could have seen me today. I was finishing....yes finishing....the afghan and of course some of the blanket was on the floor. Guess who came over and curled right up on it and went to sleep! I knew for sure that this was a keeper (dog and blanket both  ) What a wonderful feeling to see the completion of this project. I'll miss these weekly clues though. :hellogoodbye:

Congratulations on finishing your blanket! :bravo:
Can't wait to see a photo.

And you are cordially invited to join us in our OTHER crochet & knit-alongs this year. None of them will be as large as the blanket, but they will still be fun. :D

Thanks Shandeh. Do the other knit alongs have specific time frames to join in? I saw one for a tea cozy and wondered if we start any time.

You can join in at any time. I will keep those discussions open for participation, so anyone can join at any time. Our discussions will have photos and question/answer posts which will help others as they make their project.

Looking forward to seeing you in the KALs and CALs! :)

Soooo confused

Postby knitrik » Wed Apr 25, 2012 9:56 pm

Ok, so I need to start this question by explaining that i am waaaaay behind. I have completed clues 1 and 2. I am halfway through clue 3 and halfway through clue 4. I am looking at the finished pictures (which are VERY impressive) and wondering if I mixed up my colors somewhere. The color that was supposed to be the main color of the afghan is only used for the middle star and the borders? I feel like there is so much more of the other colors in mine that I am wondering if I got mixed up somewhere along the line.

you will only use the main color in the clue 4 squares. and then you will use it again when you begin the borders.

i'm not sure if that answers your question, but if you are just worried because you aren't seeing much of your main color yet, don't worry.

Ok, then I am on track. Thanks for the info. I do find it really odd that the designers called this the main color when there really is not all that much of it in the blanket. When I look at the pictures, the color that was used for the solid squares seem to be the most color and I would have called this the main color. I guess that was the whole point of this being a mystery, but I am completely disappointed to not have a lot of my main color in the body of the afghan. Maybe next year I better wait until I see the completed pictures before I choose my colors. Oh well.

by main color, it will be the one you use the most of, but i understand what you mean. i was surprised by how little it showed up in the squares, too. but when you get there, the border will bring it all together in the end. it's actually kind of amazing how much the border changes the look of the piece.

question about main color

Postby knitcrazzee » Thu Apr 26, 2012 6:06 pm

Hi,
I haven't finished my KAL due to illness, but will this year.
I was surprised that the main color listed in the afghan was not used till the border.
I would have liked to have use the off white in the blocks --now the off white would look out of place, so I will have to choose another color to finish it.
Just commenting on this --will probably not do another mystery KAL because of this.
