I ended up going back and redoing 5 of my clues. I struggled only with the increasing. It is difficult to do the knit below in an increase stitch. I still have to block 4 of clue 3 so that I can get them sewn together. I am hoping to finish my first border today. And get my blocking done :)

Instead of doing a traditional increase where you knit in front and behind, you could do a half hitch increase also called a half hitch cast on. Knit one stitch and then simply loop the yarn over the right needle for the increased stitch. Leaves a nice even edge and it's easy to do a knit below. This way the following knit below is under a normal stitch.

Anyone still working clue 3 -- I am a beginner knitter and am very S-L-O-W! Just finished clue 2, and clue 1 matches in size approx. For clue 3, after 2 attempts, I have successfully made this square - both sides and it looks awesome. :D However, it is HUGE?! :helpme: Any suggestions to work this out? Smaller needles? Any quick ideas on how to tighten it all up? Been seeing the pics and can't wait to see how mine turns out!!! :D

Hi Lairy - the important thing is to see what proportion your square 3's are in in comparison to your first clue 1 and 2 squares. If they are more than a half an inch in difference, you should adjust. I knitted five square 3's and re-did four of them before continuing with the rest. I had to change needle size down one from all the other squares I knit. It took me an extra week to do that, but my blocks fit very nicely together after that. The square 3s seem to be stretchier than the others - I don't know why.
