I have a SERIOUS aversion to whipstitching...anyone else considering slip stitching them together? Any opinions? :hellogoodbye:

I will probably slip stitch mine through the back loops. I have used that for the last couple of granny afghans I've done and i like the look it gives on the front.

First strip done
I used my tails to put it together, then I tied in every tail
First CAL Strip.JPG

I will make 5 more strips then use a long piece of yarn to sew them together.
Strip 1 again.JPG

This is taking longer than I expected, I am loving my results though. Not as difficult as I thought it would be, just longer! It is getting a bit faster as I go, so there is hope it won't take forever!
I have a tip, print off the page you will be using then as you complete a seam draw in the completed seam on the page. this should help keep track and make sure everything gets together correctly.
If you are using a different design, try printing it off and marking the seams as completed.
Oh well, back to seaming, can't wait to see it all together!

Now to seaming.

beautiful!!

Thanks Jen!! The best part is I got the yarn at the Dollar Tree. I was going to use up some of my stash but I didn't have enough colors in the same weight.

You could definitely slip stitch them together and get a great result! The designer chose sewing through the back loops, but there are lots of ways to do it (sc together, sl st together, sew through both loops) and they would just be slight variations. Slip stitch would be fine.

Am I the ONLY one who thinks the final layout looks WEIRD???

I don't think that I would have grouped the colors that way... :hrmm:

Single Crochet around Motifs

Postby dcrozier » Wed Apr 04, 2012 1:44 pm

Hi Laina,

I am going to post the pics of clues 1,3,6 with the sc around the edges--they are not blocked. I did the sc around the chains in the corners because I liked the flat look, but think I mentioned that before. Since I am not good at this, I hope it works or I will try again later.
