Knit-Along Clue 6 (Week 7)

Here I am jumping around, My borders are done and I finally startedsewing and I have the center and the sides around the center sewed As you said it is not that bad, It goes pretty quickly. Tomorrow we will know how the pattern th for e Cal goes together. Besides I have to finish the mermaid purse, my valentine monster which will become my easter monster and I started the new slushy hat. I am as we call in french "très éparpillée!" But I tell you I will finish everything in time So I hope

Très éparpillée for our friends hère is thé équivalent of having each of your fingers in a différent pie! Miam! Mine are Maine blueberry, Wisconsin Door County cherry, pumpkin, pecan, chocolate mousse, banana cream, tarte tatin, lemon meringue, sweet potato and key lime! Speaking of key limes, I found some in a grocery downtown today.....réal ones! Think I'll make a real pie this weekend.

M'y first border is almost there. 8 more small squares to go. Could have finished tonight but was lazy.

Nearly through with one side, my squares were a little bigger than 9.5 and I need to know if the border
is to go to the top of the piece and match what is already there. I'm thinking the top and bottom will cover
all of the top, including the side pieces.

P.S. Please let this be the case so I can start on the other side

Has anyone answered this? My guess would be yes. We're to sew up the borders on both long sides, so the top and bottom Will have to go across the new, wider width.

i asked this question last week and still haven't heard back on it... i'm going to assume that the border is to run the full length of the blanket, with no more and no less. but, i'm also in the position of being so far behind that if that isn't the case, i can adjust it when i get there.

I think most of knitters are so ... maybe only "female" knitters, because we are so often doing 2 or 3 or 4 things in the same time .... I often dream I have 6 arms like Shiva and 36 hours per day ...

Three blocks left to do, I was glad there was a break week for the CAL, because I was caught up, and could concentrate on my knit blocks What more will tomorrow bring!!

Did anyone use a row counter on the border? can someone tell me approximate numbers of rows. I am really bad at judging by looks so I end up spending way too much time stopping to measure.

I ended up doing 25 repeats (for a total of 351 rows?) and it ended up about 58" long. My blanket is 59" long. The left border went on just fine with a bit of slight stretching. Each person's knitting is different so measuring is still your best bet, but maybe that will give you a general idea.

Thanks! That does help. I will measure but if I have a general idea I am not obsessing about measuring all the time. Still have 2.5 squares left then start stitching and border.

Is it necessary to block the borders before sewing to the afghan?
It is so pretty.

I guess it's one of those do as you wish times. I don't think I'll block mine. It's laying nicely and I don't want to flatten the texture. The directions don't really mention it.

How did some of you get your borders to lay nicely? Mine folds in half lengthwise. I'm definitely going to have to block mine.

How funny can this be!! I never heard that translation. But that does it for my sweet tooth I would take one of each, maybe 2 of the pecan

My border was not laying flat and was folding lengthwise. I kind of semi blocked it by folding it in half and spray water on it both sides and that did the job

I blocked mine because it wanted to fold in half as others have mentioned, and I knew it would drive me crazy. Using my ironing board, I just pinned and sprayed half of it until dry and then the other half.
