Tea Cozy KAL/CAL

Postby Shandeh » Fri Apr 06, 2012 12:04 am

While making dishcloths in our Dishcloth KAL/CAL, several of us started discussing tea cozies.
So, I think we should make some together!

Bernat has several nice free patterns for tea cozies:

I made that pattern, using Bernat Mosaic yarn in "Psychedelic"

And there are some cute tea cozies in Bernat Pattern books as well!

I just love the Chicken Tea Cozy in the Country Kitchen Pattern Book

And check out the adorable matching egg cozies! :D

There is also a sweet Gingham Cozy in that same book.

I have the yarn and pattern for the puffball Xmas one, and also all the yarn to make the chicken things in the kitchen book, which I also have, but have to finish my afghan first!

OK, you have finally found something that I really do want to knit so I guess I will be getting out the needles after I finish the CAL. The tea cozy I am using was made by my husband's grandmother so I will continue to use it until it wears out but a spare would be great.

I was taught to knit using the continental style (we called it the German method) but I think my hands will like the "throw the yarn" method better--will experment in a couple of weeks. My DH wishes I had not found this forum since I spend too much time here--love the company and ideas!!!!

Neat! I can't wait to see the puffball cozy being created. I haven't tried that yarn yet.

And I love those chickens!! My mother collects roosters, so I might make a chicken or two for her.

I like these they are really nice. The Knitted/Pleated tea cozy could be done in orange with green on the top and it would look like a pumpkin for fall.

You also reminded me of the chickens / chicks I made for Easter - they fit over eggs. I will have to find the pattern. I usually used the plastic eggs instead of real eggs.

I love the knitted/pleated cozy too! I've been looking through my stash, trying to decide which yarn to use for that one.

 I just finished my weaving on the Cal. I'm ready for another challenge. I have the pattern sheet and the Bernat Puff Ball in Christmas Mix (red, green and white). I always get the free pattern sheets and yarn when ever I go to Michaels, I'm so glad we are doing the Tea Cozy. I have never used this yarn before and excited to try it. Shandeh, THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE WONDERFUL THINGS YOU DO. :knit:

I can't wait to see your tea cozy! If you can, take some photos of it while you are working on it, so we can see it in progress.

Thanks for the love!

Oh, I'm so glad someone else wants to do this! I need to finish my knitted afghan first though - it will take me this week yet, and haven't crocheted much, so am wondering how far I'm going to pull this yarn to get the puffballs to line up. I need a tutor, I'm afraid. My husband will be glad that I'm using up more yarn! Also, one of my son's friends is curious to see how the puffball yarn will come out. So I think this is definitely my next project after the KAL!
