Chunky Cable Blanket

Postby zhanie » Sun Apr 08, 2012 11:27 pm

I am thinking of making a cable blanket in taupe or another creamy, beigy colour.
I like this pattern: http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=2321
I am trying to choose a pattern that will be quick to make and modern and generic enough for a young couple to throw over the back of their couch, pass the test of time, and hopefully they will like it! Making the initial decision is the hardest part for me :idonno: That's why the mystery KALs and CALs were so good for me!

I love that blanket! It fits all of your requirements perfectly :) It's exactly the cozy thing to go over the back of a couch!

I am a cable lover so my opinion is already made. This is a superb blanket and It would be very easy for me to cuddle in it. I vote for this one and with a neutral color it could go anywhere. I am sure the young couple will cherish it forever.

There's a couple more patterns with cables, depending on what kind of style the couple prefer.
I like these two as well:

But I also love the one you posted.

Thank you for the input everyone! I noticed the Harmony too and love it! I'll go ahead and , buy my yarn, and make one starting soon. I will make my decision between the two based on what is easier. :cloud9: It would be cool to have a buddy. hint hint. But either way I know that I can share my progress here and get lots of nice feedback to keep me going!

I actually made this afghan for a Christmas gift this past year. I picked Terra Cotta Mist as my colour, and I was really pleased with how it turned out. I love knitting an afghan in one piece. Hope you like the finished product as much as I did. :hellogoodbye:

I think I'll be doing the 2009 KAL just after this one. It has pieces with cables too. I think there may be a couple more out there too who are strongly thinking about it. Maybe we could make a cable afghan Forum topic for this spring. I know this fall there is interest for the stepping waves project.

I'll bet lots of people will be interested in the last KAL. I have had so much fun with this years. It's kinda sad it's coming to an end now :rainy:
